I managed to find a good livestream after all, so I got to watch the epp before any possible power loss, yay for that! \o/ On the other hand, the episode itself was pretty um, special...O_o

Give me someone I like... )

I actually liked the episode fine. When I heard about the Third Reich setting I was really really concerned. So I guess I was relieved it wasn't so upsetting in that regard.

I agree with what you wrote about "a real war criminal" - I also instantly thought they were talking about The Doctor and that it would have made for some great opportunities.

I thought Karen Gillan was fantastic in this episode. And despite the whole "I have to get my parents together so I exists" thing, I did like Mels. She was sassy.

And I agree, happy to see Rose and Martha and little Amelia.

Just my 2¢.

So I guess I was relieved it wasn't so upsetting in that regard.

But...it was. I mean, Moffat essentially BELITTLES the Holocaust, the deaths of 10 million people, as not that big a deal, in saying that River Song, for killing ONE man, is a far far greater war criminal than Hitler...what part of that isn't upsetting?! O_o Plus it's just so tacky to use a sensitive topic like Hitler anyway when it in the end had nothing to do with the plot really, they could have just picked a made-up space war criminal or whatever, this is sci-fi...

I did like Mels. She was sassy.Meh, I don't always like it when people are sassy just for the sake of being sassy (unless they are in fact ~*SASSY*~, lol sorry, can't resist puns! :p), and I'm mostly annoyed with how much of an obvious retcon she is, I mean, Moffat couldn't even have the logical and self-evident reference when Amy reveals to Rory that she named her baby Melody? Like, "Wait, after our old friend Mels?" would have been perfect. Or you know, elsewhere in s5 and 6, rather than springing ( ... )

with the plot really, they could have just picked a made-up space war criminal or whatever, this is sci-fi...That's what I always think when they decide to incorporate the Third Reich in Sci-Fi. I was pretty annoyed when I heard the title. I'm not one who finds that there is anything amusing about Nazi Germany, and yet there are so many movies that have Hitler as a comedic/parody element. The reason why I said, it didn't upset me so much was that it was only a silly sidenote. Whereas I was really annoyed with all the fascist episodes back then with the Seventh Doctor. Basically because they conveyed that such evil can only be fought with alien help because it is in itself more alien than human. This denial of the human capability of evil I find an upsetting notion ( ... )

Ah well I haven't seen any Seven yet, so IDK about those Fascist plots...I agree with someone though who said they think the Daleks represent Hitler figures (exterminate all races that are different! Aggressive invaders!) well anyway, and that they should stick with that represetation...

And lol, well I was kind of bored, though mostly just confused I guess!

Hm, maybe you can see it that way but I prefer not to.

I have very low expectations when it comes to TV these days. So when there is something that doesn't totally piss me off, all is well.
