Okay then....:/ (Supernatural Finale Thoughts)

May 21, 2011 19:43

I only had the chance to watch the finale(s) a few hours ago, earlier tonight with dinner, and luckily I managed to remain unspoiled before watching (I was super extra paranoid and didn't even open any notification emails of posts from those of you who I know watched SN to be on the safe side, let alone go anywhere else fandomy online).  My ( Read more... )

Well, I am giving up on this show (after the premiere, because I want to see how they wrap the Castiel thing up). I have been hanging on a thread for years, anyway, and this was the final nail in the coffin. Oh, well.

Aw, I'm sorry to hear that...surely it hasn't gotten as bad as  (lol)? :( What if they somehow managed to wrap up the Cas thing satisfactorily? Oh well...

Well, I don't think the development for Castiel was character assassination at all. I mean, they showed very believably how Castiel came to turn to the wrong path. Nothing of what we saw in 6.20 has been out of character. In 6.21 Castiel then tried several times to reach out to Dean - in a manner that made it impossible for Dean to trust him, but still - and found himself refused. So I think it was only logical that Castiel, who at that point felt denied by his friends, abandoned by God and betrayed by his allies, cut his losses and pushed ahead at all costs, because that was the only thing left to do for him. All he had done would have been for nothing, had he stopped at this point ( ... )

It's not out of character, and the fall into darkness makes sense. But they didn't have to go there.

They can turn Sam dark because in the end you know it's gonna be alright, because Sam and Dean are the only safe characters on the show. Even though Castiel has maybe as many fans as the brothers, he isn't safe, and if this is the way they have chosen to finally write him off the show, well, that's very disappointing for the people who happen to care about this character.

Even if they redeem him before the end, too much will have been ruined in the process.

Thank you, I think this is what I was mainly trying to vocalize with the "character assassination" thing, but failed. :/ I do not want THIS to be the way Cas is written off the show, and also I feel like its worse than the Sam thing, maybe for the reasons you said. :(

Well, ultimately the writers don't have to go anywhere. But I think it was good storytelling and finally allowed the brothers to angst about someone other than each other. The traitor in your midst is always the more interesting storyline than some generic Big Bad.

See, I don't think the writers would simply write Castiel off like that. I would be very surprised if they didn't have a plot twist coming our way in the S7 opener that will ultimately redeem Castiel. Personally I don't think that Cas will be the Big Bad of S7, I think they will resolve the situation in the season opener. And I may not care much about Cas, but I think the writers very much do and I doubt they would give such a beloved character a send-off like that. In this case I actually have some faith in the writers. ;)

I have no words for what they have done to Cas, i am shattered. I can't even talk about it without losing it or bawling like a baby. I do not want a season of the boys hunting him down, I'd rather have him be killed now. And i hate the show for getting me to a point where i have to say that.

He broke Sam's wall, he broke the deal with Crowley (i was so sure it would've been the other way around) and he killed Balthazar. They ruined him even before he was corrupted by the souls. I cannot forgive what they did to him. Never.

Jared was AMAZING! I thought he was amazing in last season's finale too, but I was a tad dissatisfied with how they handled his storyline. I need there to be more consequences, i mean, they built this up so much, and yet, this was all....?

*hugs* I know, bb, I know...

Well I'm not sure they will be hunting him down, I'm hoping that this is a fakeout and that it will be resolved within the first episode and Cas will be able to be redeemed...but IDK. :( One can live in hope that he will come down soon from being "hopped up on demon blood monster souls" (which might be having a possessing kind of effect too), and then will be full of remorse and apologize (and have a nice scene with Sam in which Sam says he kind of understands, he's been there before in season 4, and finds it in his heart to forgive his once friend with benefits) and pop in from time to time during the season saving the boys or trying to make amends until the season (and series) finale in which all is forgiven and they are all friends and everyone lives happily ever after because while this is SN I do think the series finale should end on a happy, uplifting note ( ... )

Maybe the power from Cas releasing the extra purgatory souls can heal Sam's own soul, and thus he can redeem himself and at the same time Sam gets the credit for being strong enough to put himself more or less together in the first place....

Noooo! Castiel should redeem himself differently. I am sooo looking forward to some unstable!Sam who is fighting with his hell memories. Some PTSD, some h/c - YUM! *g* I agree with you. I don't think this storyline is all over. Sam may not have been reduced to a drooling nutcase, but I am sure that there will be some repercussions in S7.

But what about later then? IDK, some unstable Sam is well and good, but surely you don't want that to go on forever, it has to be resolved somehow! :/

Yep, tonight (I need to start working on some posts for those, lol, oops), sadly it's only 9 parts, so 1x09 tonight is it for the season! :( It's going to be a loooong year until the show returns...*sigh* And yeah, it was pretty quick, with so few episodes.

Lol hope you didn't read any of the SPN stuff, don't want you being spoiled since hopefully someday you will be able to catch up! ;)

Do you maybe know when does the series come back? I only read that s2 has been confirmed. Anyway, the waiting will be too long!

Nope, I haven't read it ^^ I noticed that you put "the borgias" into the tags for this entry, so I scrolled down :). But thanks for the warning, I'm definitely determined to watch it someday!

I would assume it would just come back in April around the same time as this year, that's how they usually do these things...:( And ah okay lol, good! :)
