I just deleted the first two episodes of "Life" after watching only 10 minutes of the premiere. Why? Because Oprah Winfrey was the narrator. Oprah fucking Winfrey. What the hell is she doing there? Why on earth did Discovery think she would be superior to David Attenborough? Sigourney Weaver did a great job with Planet Earth, but Oprah apparently can't narrate her way out of a paper bag. Even more painful, she was clearly just reading the same script as Attenborough. I could hear his voice in my head, the way it should have sounded. It was just too distracting to get past. Thanks, Discovery, for ruining a series I had been looking forward to for months. Looks like I'll have to wait a bit longer for the Attenborough DVDs in June.
