Many of you have heard this already, but I'm putting it down for the sake of posterity (and future embarrassment of my son).
Malcolm's speech continues its slow but steady improvement, with a few new words cropping up every week or two. Last weekend at my parents' house, he demonstrated a new phrase. He was playing on the floor while my dad was trying to interest him in a puzzle. He let out a little toot, as we all do from time to time. Then he looked up at me, grinned, and, giggling, said, "I farted."
He's done it at least twice more - once later that same day and again two days later while my mother in law was babysitting. In all cases, it was appropriately timed, and he used the correct pronoun rather than repeating "you farted," as we have said to him often, or "me farted" as many toddlers would.
Still, his first sentence is about farting. He is a boy to the core. I'm so proud.
