Tonight is my last night in Hong Kong before Winter and I fly to Beijing. She arrived last night, thankfully, and it has been SUPER fun! Today we walked up Victoria Peak which is a long trail carved out of a mountain. We then came back to the Eshel's apartment, showered, etc.. and caught the bus to the metro. We walked through Kowloon through the Bird Markets, flower markets, GOLDFISH markets, and Jade markets. Winter and I ate lunch at a Thai place which we were really proud of ourselves for finding and being able to order. At the jade markets we got the coolest stuff- pearls, jade, turquoise and all really inexpensive. We then went in and out of a few shops then to the peninsula hotel for afternoon tea. The peninsula hotel is the nicest building I have EVER been in. As we sat and had afternoon tea, around us was Prada, Louis Vuitton, Manolo Blahnik, Hermes, Gucci, Tiffanys, Chanel, etc... It was INSANE. We felt very proper. As we were taken to our table, a man came up and carried all of our bags for us, pulled out our chairs, offered every condiment the world can contain and yea, it was awesome. As we were walking away, we went into Manolo Blahnik (due to my love affair with him) and right as we walked in, the woman looked down at our feet (we were both wearing well loved Rainbows), rolled her eyes and walked away. It was SOOOO funny. Then, as we left the hotel, we saw a woman with 16 Prada shoe boxes trying to fit them all in her trunk. We were a bit stunned. We then caught the "star ferry" back to Hong Kong Island.
NOTE: Kowloon is still considered Hong Kong but is just across the cove from Hong Kong Island.
The star ferry is a ferry that has been in operation for 100 years, never has an accident, and the price has not been raised since the 60's. CRAZY. We caught a bus back to the apartment where we are now. It has been SUCH an awesome day. It is so good to have Winter here finally. Tomorrow we will climb victoria peak again then head to the airport at noon. I hope everyone is doing well and will hopefully hear from you all soon!
