Sherlock is not really asexual, although he tells people he is because it's easier. You see, in uni he had one boyfriend, who wound up being really abusive (non-con, violence, all that lovely stuff, none of which needs to be graphically descpribed) and as a result his first sexual encounter was way before he was ready. He cannot imagine having sex with someone he cares about - it's repulsive. But he really does love John and does want to be in a relationship with him. He even likes kissing and cuddling, but nothing sexual. During the early days of the relationship with John he finds out that while the thought of sex with John is terrifying, the thought of sex with the previous person really turns him on. He feels horrifically guilty about this until he rationalizes that he can just pretend John is that other person when they have sex. So he does this. And it works. For a while, at least. One day he cries out the name of the other person and John suddenly wonders what's up. Long and angsty, please, but I'd love a happy ending without ( ... )

Part one being written now. May not be the most frequent poster ever but I'll try to keep up with myself.

PS Sympathy and understanding.

Note: saying "Who cares since I'm not going to remember this anyway" is apparently not a turn on. Neither is "now that i've told you this feel free to call me a sick freak." Or "I'm not sure if this makes me a lesbian since I'm in love with you and not sexually attracted to any other females, but maybe she knew something I didn't."

quadruple checks anon here damn why am i admitting all this

Warnings: future discussion of non-con (non-graphic I think), sex, angst.Sherlock pressed his forehead against the bathroom door. Somewhere in his mind he noted the sensations: cool, smooth, solid. It gave a dull thud as his skull impacted on the wood and he knew on the other side John was sitting, leaning with his back to the door, and could feel the vibrations of the movement ( ... )

“Why?” Sherlock looked away, suddenly very tired. He’d been sitting here preparing for this conversation, expecting accusations of philandering or a dull acceptance that his mind had slipped, even though his mind never slipped, but this persistently calm approach had not factored too highly in the probabilities. He needed to head John off, now, to stop him whittling away the possibilities before he got too close. But a lie, a convincing lie, a good lie, would not come ( ... )

Goddamn it.

This? I'm really reading a mirror. This is good. This is so painfully close to reality. Everything about it.

Thank you.

Also? Part of the reason I asked for this is because I can totally relate to being dismissive of sexuality as a cover for the fact it really scares the shit out of you. Saying you're married to your job to cover that? Makes sense to me. So I can see that as being a logical character progression.

Oh, Sherlock. It's so sad to see him feeling he has to lie, and somehow even sadder to see John not believing him.

OP here says it's easier to lie - making up some excuse is better than saying you don't want to have sex with someone you love, but would do it with that person you supposedly hate.

Mycroft says "irelia 221" - is this his way of saying this is really canon?

Sherlock dashed the image from his mind as swiftly as he had recalled it. He would not be ruled by this. If it was to be allowed, it would be when, and how, he determined. He was the master of his mind and would not be overthrown now ( ... )

The crush that he had buried, the sense of physical attraction, had made itself a chrysalis, grown and developed into something else, beautiful and impossible and above all horrendously distracting. He was in love with John Watson ( ... )

OP is hoping you're still working on this. I know it probably takes you time to write, but I'll say again this is excellent and I'm looking forward to more.

Hi OP

Yeah, I'm still working on this one - it's been a pretty hectic week but I'm hoping to have the next part finished up for you tomorrow. Thanks for the nudge!

Thank you. You are extrordinarily generous for writing what is essentially therapy fic for me.

Mycroft tells me to use tzedaine, which I can't imagine would help.
