OP here.
So. Much. Love. For this.
I love Lestrade showing up at Sherlock's place, even though Sherlock never gave him his address. I love that Sherlock suggests that he's clean, and that's why he was actually bored enough to show up at the crime scene, even though I suspect he actually got clean in order to be allowed at crime scenes. I love Sherlock grinning and saying, "Course I was right." Smug bastard. :)
If there hadn't been a case, I'd've wondered if Sherlock really was telling the truth about this being an accident. But considering the fact he's working, as it were, I think I'm going to believe it. Mostly. The fact Lestrade had to ask breaks my heart a little.
My favorite thing is Lestrade's "I'm going to make bloody sure you stay alive to do it.” He's just the perfect shade of BAMF here: he's not coddling Sherlock, but he genuinely cares, and he's determined to save Sherlock from himself if he has to do so - and, most importantly, to do his job to the best of his ability (which means having Sherlock with him, of course). I love the little flares of temper, frustration, and concern he shows here.
I can't wait for more. Your characterizations are spot on. This is fantastic! Thank you SOOOO much!!!! *hugs*
