My co-spot was off tonight, so I operated spot 2.
Now, despite the fact I know both spots and have taught both (very well, I might say without any false modesty... might not be a good spot op but I'm a good spot op teacher, lol) so know what I am doing... but well, you get used to not doing things in certain scenes when spot 2 is on. Tonight, I was late on a the Lisa/Robbie pick up (oops) in Act 1, then completely forgot about the Max/Titto pick up in Act 2... oops. Ah well.
My 'official' excuse was that I don't normally do anything during this scene so I wasn't quite switched on, unofficially I was chatting to Ed about cricket. Stage management got the honest answer of "sorry, I wasn't paying attention." - best to tell the truth, although the lie is true as well.
Then came 'Time of My Life'
ED: I'm big.
ME: I'm fluffy.
Ed (the chargehand, operating my spot for the night) was a bit too big on his pick-up for Baby, and for some reason the first 15% of my pick up was fluffy, despite the fact the frost was out. Very puzzling. After wondering all throughout the song why my light had been fluffy, I realised that it was because the bubble (the lamp) wasn't quite aligned properly. This not only explains why the focus has been a bit odd recently, but why I was fluffy tonight.
spacefall has e-mailed me some of her research concerning our SIGN walk, so this week I'm going to go photograph hunting for businesses on Stockwell Place. Wish me luck.
I got paid £46 an hour for eight hours 'work' for my holiday last week ... weeee... £305 (after tax...) :-D £31 more than I normally make.
