Good news : my mints shipped.

Bad news : this weekend, I determined that I would finish putting my motorcycle back together, after much to long of not putting it together. I got around to re-assembling the carburettor, installing it, re-fitting the air filter and its housing. Then I had to drain the tank of the old fuel as it's been sitting and I didn't want to put it back in the bike - it's picky about old fuel.

While draining it, I did spill a little but no big deal. Finally it was empty, so I set it up on the bike in place but hadn't bolted it down. All that was left after that was to re-charge the battery, put it back in place, and give it a test start to make sure it'd go. Assuming it started and ran normally, I'd then subject it to some standard maintenance (chain clean and lube, oil change, flush the coolant, etc).

Instead, the tank fell off the bike as it was not secured correctly, and spilled some leftover fuel. Luckily the tank sustained no real damage in the fall.

The key that was in the fuel lock, however, did. In fact, it snapped clean in half. It also functions as the motorcycle's ignition key.

So now here I am with a partially assembled motorcycle and no key. I have another - the original, in fact, but as it was AWOL I was using the spare. I must now locate the erstwhile missing original key. According to Kawasaki, I can get a replacement made with the key code.

Which is printed on the original key.

Fun!
