The group coordinator was obviously busy to be somewhere else. I got about ten words into the presentation and she took off for Brussells to make some kind of deal with a Maker left-wing group. Wanted to put rfids in every coin in circulation.
I could see the presentation was shot, so I used my remaining seven seconds to say "This is a really dumb idea. What tells me it won't work is that we know we're using them, but they only think *they're* using *us*."
"So?", hunting about for her three smartphones. together they were smarter than her.
"So they won't adjust their use of us. They'll want to consume us until we're empty and then m-"
"Oh, shut up. That's what this group was for in the beginning, remember? We did this so we'd have something to sell out with."
"So, my design?"
"Yeah, go ahead, build it and send me a copy of the presentation video." She left in a tangle of headphone cables and expensive luggage.
That was when we sank the group before the Brussells sprouts could, sold all the prototypes to art collectors and retired rich. Bought our own islands and stuff. Mory said she's thinking about becoming a super-villain and taking over the world, she's got so much money. good luck with that.
