A week ago, I was walking past my local Cash Convertors* when I saw a Johnson electric bass guitar in the window on sale for £49.99. One of the best things about my town being a centre of Polish immigration (mainly owing to the fact it's twinned with Sopot) is that a lot of great Polish food and drink products are now widely available in the shops, including beer:

Replaced the washing machine's faulty door interlock with a £4.75 eBay replacement (exactly the same type as was already extant), meaning that the machine begins its cycle the first time the door is closed, not after the sixth or seventh try or after repeated blows to the door catch area, the latter which in the last few days have become less ( Read more... )

Using a combination of discount retailers and supermarket loyalty vouchers, I have just bought £40-worth of stuff for £13.50, leaving me more money to buy shiny things, to go on absurd international holidays and to carry on keeping The Volvo in the manner it's accustomed. Cool!

As The Volvo's tyres are all coming up to their legal tread depth limit, and also because the scabby weather looks set to continue for a while yet, I have just ordered a set of new ones online (as The Volvo is such a big lump, I have always replaced all four of its tyres at the same time), to be fitted next Thursday.
