Long Long time ago , I can still remember , how that music used to make me smile , and I knew if I had my chance , that I could make those ppl dance , and maybe theyd be happy for awhile. But February made me shiver , with every paper I delivered , bad news on the door step , I couldnt take one more step. I cant remember if I cried , when I read about his widowed bride , but something touched me deep inside , the day the music died.. So bye bye Miss American Pie , drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry , and good old boys were drinking whiskey and rye , singing this will be the day that I die., , this'll be the day that I die. (Translation - A boy , strong in faith, with a gift to hear the music his faith sang , wished to share his gift with others , until he saw what horror lies in the real world , death and pain being beyond a childs heart to understand , Fear , Pain caused a loss of faith , So bye bye miss american pie , drove my chevy to the levy but the levy was dry - Faith left and what was left in its place was a thirst that knows no satiation , no quench . Complacency and Stalemate , resigned to a fate worse then death of the body. Death within.
I met a girl who sang the blues , and I asked her for some happy news, but she jus smiled and turned away , I went down to the sacred store where I heard the music years before , but there man there said the music wouldnt play , and in the streets the children screamed , the lovers cried and the poets dreamed , but not a word was spoken , the church bells all were broken , And the three men I admire most .. The Father , Son and the Holy Ghost , they caught the last train for the coast , the day the music died . (That last verse most dont really pay attention to , That last verse took it back to beginning , the music he talked of origionally was his religion, and he lost that to horror stories and war around him. Forsaken in his heart , and spirit. Lost soul)
