[Kage's sitting in one of the small library media rooms on one of the leather couches in there, watching a scene from a movie called Jacob's Ladder. There's a few empty bottles of beer by his feet and he's smoking, but very slowly. When the scene finishes, Kage lifts the remote, hits rewind, and watches it again.
The door is open.]

Oh -- hello?
[Whoever it is, he doesn't recognize him. His eyes move to his TV screen. Nothing of interest, as far as Link can tell at the moment - two men talking.]

Hey.

[He leans back to look around outside the room uneasily, and then back in at the man. His right arm scrambles to keep the tapes against his torso snugly when they start to slip.]
...sorry, I didn't know someone was in here.
[And then - screaming? He looks back at the TV screen and watches silently, his attention captured for the moment. Strangely he just looks surprised and intensely interested, rather than shocked or frightened.]

[Kage glances over the files of every passenger that boards. He pauses the film, seeing that Link is interested.]
Siddown, watch it with me.

[He looks back at the unfamiliar man and shifts his weight, letting a beat pass.]
Who're you, though? I don't think we've ever met, have we?
[Well, it's all pulling on his curiosity more and more. With a nervous cough, he sets his load of tapes down by the door, electing for whatever reason not to bring them along, and goes to sit on the end of the couch opposite the stranger.]
What is this you're watching...?

[Kage says smoothly as Link sits down, ignoring the question of who he is. He smiles and hands the blonde a beer.]
'sfucked up, but I kinda like it. I like fucked up things. You?

This person still didn't introduce himself... hmm. Link's eyes go from the TV screen back to him, and he can't help but give him a mellow smile.]
Ah... not really. That thing looks like some of the things I've had to deal with, though, so... well, at least I can say that kind of stuff doesn't bother me as much as it might otherwise.

[Kage's tone doesn't suggest any kind of sarcasm, any kind of doubting. He knows that plenty of the passengers who arrive on the boat are heroes, badasses or just people who know how to scrap.
This kid doesn't look like much, but... well, appearances can lie.]

[That makes him grin sheepishly, and he looks away. Link definitely didn't feel all that tough, although he did have a bit more confidence about it now thanks to Torn.
With the stranger, though, he can't help but feel a little uneasy. Why hadn't he introduced himself?]
Um... what was your name?

[He smiles, though it's bare-bones and barely reaches his eyes.
Kage leans forward, touches the bottle of beer to his forehead in a mock salute.]

Great, the First Mate. Link had little positive to say to him, just like any other member of the crew. "When can I go home?" "When can I have my sword back?" That was about the entirety of his thoughts when it came to crew.
But, be polite, Link. Kage had been similarly courteous, too, and Link knew his reputation without needing to ever talk to him.
Hell, maybe he might even have the wrong idea about him...?]
So... [Trying his best to sound natural and not uncomfortable to be sitting next to him] ...what's going on in this -- [what were these called again?] -- movie?

[Kage sips.]

[His eyes drift to the floor, the mind behind them obviously thick with thoughts.]
That's... scary. It sounds scary. You mean, like... he can't go back to a normal life, right?

[Kage shrugs.]
It's pretty fucked up.

He'd never thought about it before - back in Hyrule, he was too busy to do anything but fight and focus on finding the Princess and the work to be done. But now that it's being brought up, what will he do if he manages not only to make it to Ganondorf, but beat him, and live to talk about it? Where will he go, and what will be left for him?
Nothing? Nothing. It's not that he can't go back to a normal life - there's just no "normal" to go back to.]

[Kage recognizes the silence and doesn't break it except with a murmur.]
