[Kage's sitting in one of the small library media rooms on one of the leather couches in there, watching a scene from a movie called Jacob's Ladder. There's a few empty bottles of beer by his feet and he's smoking, but very slowly. When the scene finishes, Kage lifts the remote, hits rewind, and watches it again.

[He leans in the doorway, silently, seeing that it's a bit of a scary movie. So he decides, hey, he could proably sneak up on Kage, here! So he starts to creep up to the couch, and he's keeping an eye on the screen to wait for the scariest part to jump on his Bro, and then...]

[Kage has his pistol out and he's out of his couch in a second withthe weapon trained on Chase. His heart is going a thousand beats a minute and-- Fuck. Fuck, it's just the kid.

Kage lowers the pistol, strangely grateful for Chase's presence. Pan left. Even's fucked up, but Chase? Chase is still there.

Kage breathes out a laugh.]

Kital. Startled th'fuck outta me.

[Chase raises his arms in surrender, gun pointed at him.]

[But Chase's attention is divided and the thing comes out of the cieling.]

---OH MY GOD.

[He reels, morbidly fascinated.]

[Kage twists to look at the screen. Yup, the thing is coming out of the ceiling. Without looking, Kage flicks the safety on and tucks the gun back into his pocket.]

Keep watchin'-- there.

[Kage sits back down on the couch, fascinated.]

[Chase hops over the back of the couch and sits down beside Kage, not tearing his eyes away from the scene.]

[What the hell is this...!?]

[Kage wordlessly hands Chase one of the bottles, already opened, and takes a swig of his own. Kage is absolutely fascinated by what's going on in the scene and his eyes are wide, watching, taking it all in.

He doesn't realise he's holding his breath until his chest starts to burn.]

[Chase tilts his head to the side, wordlessly accepting the bottle, but he doesn't drink from it - he's too engrossed in the bloody, clawing, biting Lovecraftian horror flailing around and just being all... gross and screechy.]

[Finally it ends, and this time instead of rewinding it, Kage hits pause and sits back.]

How y'been kiddo? Y'been scarce.

[He looks at Chase, remembering the scalp fight and ruffling the kid's hair with a skeletal hand. He smiles.]

Kage closes his eyes. Chase isn't the type to keep secrets. He needs to relax.]

[Kage leans back, then suddenly reaches forward and ruffles Chase's hair with a smile. It's a familiar gesture, one that comforts him more than it's really supposed to comfort Chase.

He keeps thinking about the scene he's been watching.
