The AWA Recap

Recap or it didn’t happen!! Right?? Anyways!! I better do this now before I keep getting distracted XD And it’s going to be massively long . . so bear with me. It’s also mostly for my own benefit, so that I remember everything in the future XD
Thursday:
brought me home from class just for us to find my parents’ van in the drive way waiting for us!! That was such an awesome feeling to know that we had a nice car to drive to AWA! And that we would actually have room for everything. So we ended up spending the rest of the night getting all of our stuff together and taking showers, and making last minute plans while getting all of our stuff in the living room so that we could throw it in the car the next morning.
Friday:
Woke up at 5:30. I should NEVER be up that early. UGH, can’t stand it . . but I managed! Got the last of my stuff together, got dressed, and then started to pack the van. :icaonakarui: already had her Jaden cosplay on. I wasn’t going to put my Kaito on until we actually got in to Atlanta. As much as I love wigs I didn’t feel like wearing one for the 4 hour trip over there!
So we got everything loaded up and pulled out of the drive way around 8, which is when we had planned to leave. It took me a while to get used to driving the van (because I’ve only driven it once before, and that was for my driving test) but I soon got the hang of it! By the time I got to I65 I was doing pretty well!!
We drove down through Birmingham and then went across heading for Atlanta. On the way we stopped to get gas (which
thought it was amazing how much guess you could put in a van at just half a tank) and then stopped at a McDonalds (which amazingly was our only McD’s trip, but there really wasn’t one close to the con this time) and
found out that everything was massive there! She was having trouble with how tall everything was! It was sort of funny to watch . . am I being a bad friend for saying that? Oh well!
We pulled out of there and made the rest of the trip to the con! Of course we passed by Six Flags on the way there which had me squeeling to want to pull off and go there . . but we were on a mission! So no getting sidetracked . . So we kept going!
We got to the con around 1ish Atlanta time. We ended up at the top of the parking garage where there really weren’t that many cars so we got a choice of parking spots. I decided to just change in the car and then put my wig on once we got inside. So I climbed into the back of the van and changed while Jaden (
) kept an eye out on things for me.
Once that was done we went down and I got my wig on. Then began the process of finding everything. We knew we had to find our friend Ryan to give him the shoes that he had left at our house before, but he wasn’t able to help us much in the direction part of things, so for a few minutes we wondered around aimlessly trying to figure out where everything was. That was until we ran into
who was able to lead us in the right direction! So we went up and got our badges! Which didn’t take too long. We got there at one of the slow times.
While there we got to meet an awesome Demyx!! OMG the sitar!! And the Demyx!! And the sitar!! I think I was going to have a spazz!!! And on top of that she was friends with Ryan!! Which means I got to see her several times throughout the con.
After that we ran into
and stayed with her for a while before we decided we wanted to check out the dealers room. We headed over that way and just gawked at how huge it was!! We’re so used to having little small dealers rooms, so it was amazing to us. We then started our trek through the dealers room where I realized that there was never ending One Piece stuff. Every booth we went to had something One Piece and I think I was having a fangasm the entire time!! I saw a Law figure at one of the booths and swore I would come back for it if I didn’t find it anywhere else!
I ended up only making one purchase that day, and that was one of the Clamp books with the chess pieces. I got the one that had Watanuki in it. I just couldn’t pass it up because it was only $10!!
From there we went exploring again. We ended up back in the hotel lobby where there were a lot of random cosplayers. We ran into
there, to whom we both had a spazz attack (well,
had a spazz attack and I had my own silent spazz attack) and freaked her out and ended up giving her a Paopu. During all this we spotted a Dogs group! But alas we got distracted and by the time we tried to go get their picture they were gone!! That made me so sad! I wanted their picture!! Oh well . . .
We then ran in to a Kaiba, to which
had another spazz attack. She got her picture with him as Jaden, and then right after a Bandit Keith showed up! So then we had Jaden, Kaiba, and Bandit Keith! It was so funny!
From there we wondered around again and eventually found ourselves back up at the Artist Alley.
knew that
was going to be there cause I had let her know, so she demanded that we go see her so that she could get a commission done of one of her characters. So we went inside to do that but sadly
had already left for the night so we said we would come back the next day.
We left from there and found the people we were rooming with and got the room key for our hotel. We went back out to the van and drove across to where the hotel was, seeing a B&N on the way (which we deemed our breakfast spot) and then managed to get all of our stuff to the room in 2 trips! We got ready for bed and ended up ‘falling asleep’ around 1ish, although neither of us really slept.
Saturday:
We got up around . . 7 or 8? Now I can’t remember . . I think it was 8, because I think we left the hotel at 9 . . I think that’s right . . anyways!!
We got up and got dressed.
was Sora and I was Riku. We left and went to B&N where we had breakfast with one of our guy friends. For me this consisted of Hot Chocolate and friendship bread. (Hot chocolate because I don’t like coffee). Also, the lady behind the counter was writing down our character names on the cups, so I told her to put Riku, but the way she wrote the ‘u’ made it look like a ‘y’ so when they called my name out I was “Riky” Made me feel like I was from “I Love Lucy” LOL
We left from there and went over to the con, where I realized I had left my arm warmer for Riku back in the hotel room. So I gave Crystal (our hotel roomie) a call (luckily she was still there) and she brought it over for me.
We walked around for a while and went back to the dealer’s room, where I held true to my promise and got the Law figure!! OMGGGG HE’S SO PRETTY!!!!!! (He is now sitting on top of my computer) We went from there and wondered around till we found more KH people and then proceeded to try and find the photo shoot. We were confused at first about which ball room it was but we figured it out pretty quickly. We then all gathered together and got a few pictures (although the whole thing was very disorganized).
and her group showed up during this and made us all very happy! I just feel sad cause none of the Roxases paid any attention to her!! She was our only Axel! How could the Roxases ignore her?? Seriously??!!
But yes, we got a few pictures, and watched a few random events take place before we decided to pick up our stuff and move on.
From there we went down to the Artist Alley where we finally got to meet
. For once
was actually being timid!! It shocked me! But she gave the picture to
and asked for a commission of the character, and then also gave her a Paopu, which
was very happy about! (when we got the picture back later, she had even drawn a little Paopu in the corner while saying thanks for it!)
We left from there and headed back into the dealers room which is also where autographs were being done. We went to get in line where the Vas for Mahad and Serenity were going to be! We both brought our Dark Magician cards for Mahad to sign! So we got in line for that, and while we were waiting we got to know two Grimmjow’s that were behind us (more like in the line right behind us where it looped around). We got there pictures and talked to them for a while before the VA’s finally got there so the line started to move and we couldn’t really talk to them as they moved further away.
At first we didn’t know if Michael (Mahad’s VA) was going to show up! Although the people around us said he had been late for his other events too, so we had our fingers crossed! Luckily he showed up a few minutes later and all was good!!
Also, while waiting in line we noticed that the Grimmjows were talking to an Ulquiorra. And a really awesome Ulquirra at that. I do believe I had a spazz attack that moment. I demanded that I wanted a picture of him, so
leaned across and got one of the Grimmjow’s attention and asked about him. They said that if we waited for them that they would take us to the Ulquie! I was so happy!
So we got up to Mahad and we gave him the card sleeves to sign! (Which he wrote +infinity damage on the back of, so now our Dark Magician’s are super strong!) He also signed my Lexicon Death Note, which he proceeded to write all over the page that it was “not a Death Note” LOL Before we left we gave him a Paopu and a card with our info on it. The card had a Winged Kuriboh and Ruby on it, and we told him that we planned to go as Jaden and Jesse in the future, which he proceeded to groan about and say “Oh, no”. I was just surprised that he got the reference of ‘why’ we were dressing up as them so fast!!
We then left from there and waited for the Grimmjows, which we followed around for a while until they finally found the Ulquiorra, who was with more Bleach characters, such as the Ichigo who actually looked like Ichigo!
So I took several photos of the group, only to find out that when they left they ended up dragging
and myself with them! LOL
We ended up following them around for a mini Bleach photo shoot, and even ended up in some of the pics! It’s really quite funny considering it was all Bleach and then a random Riku and Sora. I still wish, though, that we had had a photographer of our own with us, because I wanted to get some nice Riku/Sora pics out by the water and other outside areas. Maybe another time!
We followed the Bleach group back inside and ended up going up to the con-suite, where we got free food and sat around for a while. By this time I was getting tired, and pretty much feel asleep on the couch by
while she chatted it up with the Bleach group.
We left from there and went back downstairs where we ended up running into
and
and I broke off from the Bleach group for a while to walk around with them while
stayed back with the other group.
Once
caught back up with us we just hung out for a little while before going on the move again. We went back up to the artist alley where
got her picture from
. We also saw an awesome Haseo there!!! This Haseo =>
<= She was so awesome! I had to get a picture! So while we were getting a picture we heard from beside us “Would you like Jesus in your picture?” and before we knew it there was a Jesus standing beside Haseo. Yes, a Jesus, LOL It was the funniest thing ever and
and myself couldn’t keep from laughing.
After that we started to wonder around again and then met back up with
and
. We ended up sitting down in the Lobby with them for a long time. During this time
showed me some pictures, to which I saw one of a Ryou Bakura. I quickly hit
to get her attention so she could see, and she had a spazz/panic attack over the fact that she had missed getting to see the Ryou and that she wanted to hunt her down and hug her to death, LOL. After this we decided to move on again. We followed them to their hotel room where they got some of their stuff together and changed. We then went back over to the con where we split ways for a short time so that we could drive our car back over to our hotel and they could get some other stuff before heading over to our place.
They walked all the way to our hotel. I can’t believe they did that! They couldn’t either actually. They said it was a very bad idea, LOL. But once they got there we proceeded to style the Bakura wig, which
got on video. I’m sure that was pretty funny XD
Then :icaonakarui: and myself played two games of YuGiOh (which she kicked my butt both times), which
also got on video!
Then we took
and
back to their hotel room and came back, only to find Crystal in bed and our guy friend (who I cannot remember his name right now) walking out telling us to watch her while he went and got her some meds. It turned out that she had a major allergic reaction to something (still not sure what). So she was pretty much bed ridden for the night while doped up on meds to help with the itching and everything else.
We got ready for bed and kept her company until he got back, and then we all went to bed.
Sunday:
We got up again around 8. I totally slept through the alarm clock. I didn’t really wake up until
walked by already dressed in her Marik outfit saying that she was almost done and then the bathroom could be mine. I sort of layed there for a while and just stared off blankly until finally making myself crawl out of bed.
I got dressed up as Bakura and then we proceeded to make sure we had all of our stuff together. Our two roommates were still asleep, so we both just wrote them a check for our part of the hotel room and then got part of our stuff together and made a trek down to the car to load it up. I pulled the van around to the front to make the final load and then we went back up to the room. We left the room key their and told them bye, and then took the rest of our stuff to the car (two trips again!) and went back over to B&N again.
I once again got Hot Chocolate, the reason this time was because Bakura refused to drink Coffee, so therefore got hot chocolate instead.
We headed over to the con once more and started to walk around again. We got photo bombed many more times this day then the previous two days. It seems Marik and Bakura are very popular! (who would have thought it? LOL just kidding XD) We ended up back at the dealers room where I ended up getting an Ulquiorra key chain, and I little Doumeki figure to go with my Watanuki.
We then walked back down to the Lobby where we met back up with
and
and waited for the other YGO cosplayers to get there.
It didn’t take long for all of them to start showing up and it was getting really interesting! First we had a little Thief King show up (who was very adorable!!!) and
had a spazz (and that was with the TK not even having her wig on yet). During this time
’s chain on her Marik shirt broke, to which we had a short panic attack about before I remembered that I actually had a needle and thread in my purse. So Bakura drug Marik off to the bathroom to fix his shirt! I just wish
had a camera on her at the time, because I’m sure it was funny seeing Bakura lean in to Marik’s chest to bite the thread off to break it (because we didn’t have scissors).
We then went back out to find that the YGO group had grown!! We rushed into the fray and started to see who all had shown up. During this time a Ryou (
) walked up to the group, which made
have another spazz. This also caused the Yami Bakura in me to have an “awwww” moment, because the Ryou was adorable!!
The photo shoot started with someone asking for our picture so we all lined up and got together. Once we all got in place I looked up only to realize there were like 20 cameras pointed at us!! (you can see what I mean in this video: [link] ) So once everyone got the photos and we were able to move again we decided to start the actual shoot. We got a lot of group shots and random just fun shots (you can’t not have random fun shots in a YGO group). After about an hour of this we decided we all wanted to go have food. Sadly, :icon(Ryou): couldn’t join us! I was really sad about that cause I wanted her to hang out with us. But we just hugged her neck and said our goodbyes and then started to make our way over to the mall.
The trek across the bridge and to the mall was spent with me videotaping and taking pictures of
and the others jamming out to YGOTAS songs and just having a generally fun time.
We got to the mall and most of us got Taco Bell. Honestly I wish we had been going to the mall for food the entire weekend because it was so much better than the food we had back at the con center . . well, drink wise anyways.
We hung out there for a while before heading back across (jamming to YGOTAS songs again) and back to the dealers room. While there we had several more pictures taken, and I got my last purchase of the trip, which was a One Piece: Strong World art book. We got separated from the YGO group several times during this, but all we had to do was walk around and look for Yami’s hair to be able to find them again.
From there we went back out into the area in front of the artist alley room, and sat there for a while. During this time everyone played Duck-Duck-Steve and had a great time! (We actually got away with it too! I guess since there weren’t as many people there by this point).
After that was over everyone dispersed (sadly) and started to head back to our respectful homes. :icaonakarui: and myself went back to our van, made sure we had everything, and then started the road trip home. We went through Chattanooga this time, and as we were passing through Chattanooga
got a short video consisting of the sunset and Yami Bakura driving.
We got home around 8ish and threw our stuff into the living room and said hi to all the animals before crashing. And that was our weekend!!!
It was so awesome!!! (and this got super long) I look forward to hanging out with everyone again!! (and I know I missed parts of the weekend, but it’s hard to remember everything! >< )

(who would have thought it? LOL just kidding XD) We ended up back at the dealers room where I ended up getting an Ulquiorra key chain, and I little Doumeki figure to go with my Watanuki.
We then walked back down to the Lobby where we met back up with
and
and waited for the other YGO cosplayers to get there.
It didn’t take long for all of them to start showing up and it was getting really interesting! First we had a little Thief King show up (who was very adorable!!!) and
had a spazz (and that was with the TK not even having her wig on yet). During this time
’s chain on her Marik shirt broke, to which we had a short panic attack about before I remembered that I actually had a needle and thread in my purse. So Bakura drug Marik off to the bathroom to fix his shirt! I just wish
had a camera on her at the time, because I’m sure it was funny seeing Bakura lean in to Marik’s chest to bite the thread off to break it (because we didn’t have scissors).
We then went back out to find that the YGO group had grown!! We rushed into the fray and started to see who all had shown up. During this time a Ryou (
) walked up to the group, which made
have another spazz. This also caused the Yami Bakura in me to have an “awwww” moment, because the Ryou was adorable!!
The photo shoot started with someone asking for our picture so we all lined up and got together. Once we all got in place I looked up only to realize there were like 20 cameras pointed at us!! (you can see what I mean in this video: [link] ) So once everyone got the photos and we were able to move again we decided to start the actual shoot. We got a lot of group shots and random just fun shots (you can’t not have random fun shots in a YGO group). After about an hour of this we decided we all wanted to go have food. Sadly, :icon(Ryou): couldn’t join us! I was really sad about that cause I wanted her to hang out with us. But we just hugged her neck and said our goodbyes and then started to make our way over to the mall.
The trek across the bridge and to the mall was spent with me videotaping and taking pictures of
and the others jamming out to YGOTAS songs and just having a generally fun time.
We got to the mall and most of us got Taco Bell. Honestly I wish we had been going to the mall for food the entire weekend because it was so much better than the food we had back at the con center . . well, drink wise anyways.
We hung out there for a while before heading back across (jamming to YGOTAS songs again) and back to the dealers room. While there we had several more pictures taken, and I got my last purchase of the trip, which was a One Piece: Strong World art book. We got separated from the YGO group several times during this, but all we had to do was walk around and look for Yami’s hair to be able to find them again.
From there we went back out into the area in front of the artist alley room, and sat there for a while. During this time everyone played Duck-Duck-Steve and had a great time! (We actually got away with it too! I guess since there weren’t as many people there by this point).
After that was over everyone dispersed (sadly) and started to head back to our respectful homes. :icaonakarui: and myself went back to our van, made sure we had everything, and then started the road trip home. We went through Chattanooga this time, and as we were passing through Chattanooga
got a short video consisting of the sunset and Yami Bakura driving.
We got home around 8ish and threw our stuff into the living room and said hi to all the animals before crashing. And that was our weekend!!!
It was so awesome!!! (and this got super long) I look forward to hanging out with everyone again!! (and I know I missed parts of the weekend, but it’s hard to remember everything! >< )
