I had a really good day yesterday. I went to my AKOP meeting. We were watching and discussing The Celluloid Closet. It's nice to see so many straight college professors from a small conservative college have such an interest in GLBT issues. I then went to an Overeaters Anonymous meeting. I liked that too but I have some hang ups because there is so much focus on God, or our Higher Power. I don't know why I do. I remember having that issue when I tried to go to Al-Anon meetings years ago. I think it might be the part about being helpless and needing assistance from a higher power than myself. I don't like to ask for help and don't like the idea that I can't do something on my own...maybe. It was interesting anyway and I think I will continue going.
I made chicken parmasan last night. The recipe I used took me an hour and a half to make start to finish. I did make more than the recipe called for so we could have something to take to work and I pounded the chicken breasts so they were thinner. It turned out really good though I think I will make something more simple tonight.
I've been watching the news channels alot and one of the big stories that was on was Rosie O'Donnell quitting The View and Donald Trump's comments about it. They have been having a war of words for quite some time now. The Donald has made some comments about how he is disgusted with some things that Rosie has said. I like Rosie, I don't agree with everything she says but what Mr. Trump has said about her was more offensive to me than anything Rosie has said. Saying she is unattractive, a loser, fat and that he was going to have someone grab her g/f. One of the things that some people are up in arms about was Rosie saying something about how fast the president responded to the Virgina Tech school shootings. He was there very fast compared to his response to the Katrina disaster. She was criticized for saying something about that...but the thing was I said the same thing. I had said it was my hope that he had learned something about Katrina and was there because he had learned from his mistakes and not because the people who were affected were more affluent. One thing that I disagree with Rosie on was her support of Alec Baldwin. The message that he left for his kid was disgusting and if he was my father if I didn't want anything to do with him before I sure as hell wouldn't after that. He of course blames parental alientation as apposed maybe is ill temper and abusiveness. The thing with Rosie is though if she were a man, she would be taken more seriously with what she had said. If she was a man, men wouldn't be attacking her personally, saying she is fat and unattractive. It's a double standard and possible her sexual orientation has alot to do with the negative comments that I've been hearing. She is outspoken and doesnt put herself in the position for men's use. There was a commentator that I agreed with exactly. There should be more debate on issues, not less and Rosie expressed an opinion that alot of people support but don't see expressed much on conservitive controlled media.
