Warm Chai and Cool Rain

It's raining in B-Town, but it's so beautiful. Am happy that I got to wear my blue raincoat today.

This weekend Laura Lee came up to visit. We spent it checking out restaraunts, drinking hot drinks, meeting people and running into old college acquaintances. It was a beautiful (though slightly chilly) weekend.

Friday the three of us went out to American Flatbread, where they serve the most amazing pizza, cooked in open, brick ovens. The crust is just right, crispy and a little burnt. Then they cut it any way they please, making for a variety of shapes and and sizes. Live music could be heard from the other room, and the place was packed, people leaning over round tables with lighted candles. I highly reccomend it, and it's definietly worth the 30 minute seating wait.

We had an ENTIRE pizza as leftovers (seeing as we ordered 2) and so when we bumped into Dave and his friends from Johnson, we dispensed it freely. Had fun with those characters, and have a feeling that a trip to Johnson may be in order.

Saturday we went to the farmer's market in the park, appreciating the homegrown produce, handmade crafts and sweet fiddle music on the breeze. People were happy in the sun, making it a very festive atmosphere. We sat on a bench in the park, watching a little boy happily run around the fountain, trailing a ballon in the water and laughing at the wake it made. Even when the balloon popped, he was perfectly content dragging the string along.

We spotted Bumpus (now referred to as Jason from here on after) as he was with his Boys & Girls Club charges. He sat down and talked to us for a while, occasionally attending to his kids. It looks like he's doing really well here, and am happy for him. Nate St. Saviou later joined us, and went with us girls to this nice little ceramic glazing shop on College street. We picked out some bowls and had fun decorating them. I picked them up this afternoon, and they aren't half bad. I finally have a cereal bowl that isn't plastic!!!

We later bumped into Nate and Danielle Trudelle on Church, and stayed to visit while they ate lunch. It was such a nice afternoon. :-)

The rest of the week was low-key. Walked down to Battery to watch the sunset over the lake, and talked to Vanessa Maroni and her boyfriend Chris. It's crazy how many people you bump into up here. Monday Jill and I were all around lazy and pratically just slept and watched movies. But then I g ot a call from Pat & Kris saying that I had to meet them in Montpelier the next evening for some Frisbee fun.

I didn't really intend on playing (seeing as I thought I'd suck 'cause I've never really played a game before) but some of the guys they were playing with persuaded me, so I ran barefoot on the State House lawn. I even received a goal! It was hard work, and I am out of shape, but it was definitely worth it. I was smelly, sweaty and happy when all was said and done. The three of us (Pat, Kris and I) decided to go out for pizza down the street to celebrate good times. We loaded the juke box with quarters and talked about jobs, family and Star Trek!

Seeing as I had to work in the morning, we headed back to the cars, but suddenly a Rocky impulse forced us to run up the state house steps, loudly singing the Rocky Theme Song, jumping with our hands in the air yelling "ADRIANNE!" at the top. This ,of course, inspired talk of politics for quite a while, discussing policies, views and candidates.

Right! I better head home and watch some Alias, seeing as the computer wil kick me off soon. Everyone get out in the rain!

P.S. I got that after school job, and was once again told that I may get as much as $15 an hour (Yay!!) *crosses fingers* Some of you might not think that's so much, but when you are used to $8.50??? So excited. I celebrated with a chai at Muddy Waters. Mmmmmm...... :-)

And school is going alright. The teacher that I was warned about as being kind of grumpy seemed nice enough, and when she heard I went to Green Mountain, said that she knew of one Gabe Ashley from her home town. Small World (or should I say small state)?
Anyways, the kids seem really cool, and I anticipate this as being a really great job!

Run in the rain!
