Last night's excitement.
After we had a lovely dinner at our neighbor's house (mmmmmmmmmmm) we came home around 10:00 and were getting ready to settle down and watch a movie. Ethan noticed a car parked in the middle of the road, still running and blocking our driveway. It didn't leave for quite a while, so we started waving, and yelling hello. Nobody answered. We began flashing the porch lights and even sounded the air horn, being kind of silly, but stil a little sketched out. There was still no response, so we called the cops. 1/2 hour after she had parked, the cop finally arrived, put a spot light on the car and found an unconscious woman slumped over the wheel. It was a good thing she had been able to put the brake on before she passed out, because we live on a very steep hill, but it also made her car overheat. Something was also leaking from the front of the car.
Well, he had a hard time waking her up, and she couldn't tell him her name, where she was from, where she was coming from and where she was going. She was so out of it, and couldn't understand him when he repeatedly asked her to show him her license. she was asked to put the car in gear and turn it off, and she did it wrong. The car started rolling down the hill with my dad and the cop chasing after it. Fortunately she put her brake on before it hit the police car. It was some woman in her 40s, and it ends up she was stupid drunk. We watched as the cop gave her the breathalizer and tried to get her to walk in a straight line. She was stumbling all over the place, and when she finally came to understand what was happening she started to cry. He finally led her away in handcuffs (2 hours after she had stopped here) after the tow truck took her car. It was crazy. You don't really see those kind of things in the middle of nowhere. It was like watching some COPS tv show.
Hope she's ok and smarter for the experience.
Another crazy party tonight, but alcohol free. Sue is throwing some random shin dig. Come one, come all. Anybody on my friend's list is more than invited.
Today after church Mom, Sue, Max........
Whoa! Holy monkeys! Dad just almost lit the house on fire! He was using some machine in the gun shop and the sparks lit something. The house is filled with smoke. We had to throw some water on it. Crazy!
Anyways, after chuch we all went yard saling. Went up through Tunbridge and was lucky enough to receive a handsome Peruvian wave *hee hee!* as we drove by Barredas. Stopped by a farm where some festival was going on and got some yummy ice cream. People were singing, painting faces, petting fish (yeah... that's right), oxen and baby cows, picking raspberries, selling pies and walking barefoot through the fields. Little kids running shirtless and their moms with long flowing hair and new age sun dresses. Rosy faced farmers and horses giving hay rides. It was great.
And the only things we got from the sales were a tiny flower vase and 2 light bulbs. :-)
Everybody mark your calanders for the Barnard Street Dance on August 7th. The Jeannie McCoullagh band is awesome, and it should be a good time. She used to be my baby sitter!
But now I must get ready for the party tonight. Looking forward to seeing my GMC peeps next Friday!
