This stinks, 3 of my 5 boys have the flu, Brian has it and so does my brother. I am just waiting for me and the other 2 boys to get it. Brian, just started back to work 2 weeks ago and had to call in today and tell them that he could not be there because he now has the flu. They would not have let him stay anyway had he gone to work due to the nature of what they do. He landed a supervisor position and he is over the maintenance dept. but they make medical supplies and due to what he has he can't be there. Thank God for salary at least he still gets paid. Just makes for a nervous shelly with him only being there for 2 weeks.
I have taken over the store at this time and if I get it I have no option but to go to work. Not a good idea being that I deal in food and the general public, but I don't see how I can be out of work with the limited management staff I am working with. I have 3 shift managers under me. One of them is pregnant, one of them can't seem to make it to work on time and is always 30 minute to an hour and 30 minutes late daily and the other one is just a basket case and a ding bat. I get off work and I get 20 phone calls a night over simple things like..... the fax machine has a paper jam, what do I do???? Ummm, well, how about FIX IT. open up the machine find the paper and pull it out! or one of my crew just called in and I am a person short what am I to do???? Call someone to come in. There are notes posted every where saying if anyone calls in call me I NEED the hours. And my all time favorite........Michele? yeah, um we have a situation. OK tell me what it is. The toilet in the ladies bathroom is clogged and over flowing what should I do. Hummmm. let me think here a sec. Well, what comes to mind is go in there you know that thing that has a rubber bottom with a stick coming out of it? it's a plunger unclog the toilet and then get some cleaner and a mop and clean up the mess.
and then here comes the answer to that. Yeah, but I didn't do it a customer did. Ok ding bat, let me break this down for you.......Get the plunger and unclog the toilet. after that get a mop and clean up the mess. Next time we will be sure to see what customer did and and ask them to please clean up the mess they left. All I want is some common sense, is that asking too much???????????
I think the next time we run an add in the paper for managers I will request that they put in large print common sense required please.....If you don't have it, no need to apply. I have been up and going since 6 this morning and I have to go to work tonight as I am training a crew member for management. I hand picked this fella and he is a wonderful worker so I am sure he will make a great manager. He has experience and he has always had a take charge attitude. So I am hoping he will make a great and much needed improvement to my team. I am starting to learn the hard way that I can't do it all myself and it's killing my health. I just put in 48 hours last week and am well on my way to another 48 hour week. I also have a new area supervisor who has been with the KFC side of our company for over 25 years and she knows nothing about Arby's. She is brutal and to make things worse she knows nothing about Arby's so we are trying to teach her, however she is the type that will NOT listen and as she is asking you to explain something before you can get 3 words out of your mouth she is cutting you off asking you something else and before it's over she has totally confused herself and you and than tells you, you are not listening. She had me so frustrated yesterday while I was on the phone with her that I kicked a chair from the office all the way to the back wall of the store and then I kicked the back door open and went to cool off. This was while I was on the phone with her so I know she heard all the noise. She knew I was aggravated and didn't even bother to ask. Probably a good thing she didn't. Anyway, as much as I would like to stay on here i better scoot becuse I still have so much to do before I have to go to work today.
Have a great day LJ
