"What are you doing?" Penny accused.
"I'm merely opening the car door for you. Is this not customary for the gentleman to open the lady's door?"
"Yeah, if we still rode in carriages and the gentleman was driving," she spat sarcastically at him.
"Are you saying that the rules specific the male to be driving?" Sheldon said, diplomatically ( Read more... )

"You?"

She smiled, but said nothing.
It was the right decision, she noted after he spent a minute opening and closing his mouth as if he didn't know just what to say.

He settled for "Well, I...", and then folded his arms across his chest.
"I mean, I never, never would have...if it...I mean, you...?"

She held out the mask, and as it exchanged hands, she felt a brief tingle.

"Of course, sweetie," she said. Her smile was not as tickled now, but he didn't notice.
He was staring down at the mask.

She closed the door.
"You would never," she whispered, and wondered why it was so sad.

Sad.

It had taken him a full ten minutes to properly identify the emotion when it had occured, but he could now confirm he was definately sad.

"Sheldon, sweetie, is everything ok?"

"I just realized that it will be eight full hours before you return from work."

Penny smiled and gave him a quick peck on the lips.

"I'm sure you'll find something to do until I get back."

"Perhaps."

"You know, I hear the chef is making split pea soup with little frankfurters and croutons."

"Maybe I'll stop by at lunch then."

Penny just looked at him and smiled.

"Smiled," Sheldon corrected.
"What?"
"It's 'smiled', not 'grinned'." Penny didn't believe she could get her one and only line wrong. She grabbed the script out of his hand and ran over the line three times with her eyes.
"Fine, you win. It's 'smiled'."
"This wasn't a contest, Penny. This was a dispute over established fact."
"Whatever, you still win." Penny seemed rather desolate now that she had been corrected.
"You needn't look so," he searched for the right word, "forlorn." She gave him a dirty look. "Well, I suppose no one would notice if you said 'smiled' on stage tomorrow."

Tomorrow the ships would leave. The select got a hundred years of travel followed by new homes; everyone else got the apocalypse.

Sheldon knocked. "What, Sheldon?" Penny answered the door. Her hair was limp and her eyes ringed red.

"Good news," Sheldon said, seemingly oblivious. "I've got you a spot."

The words took a minute to process. Penny stepped back from her door. "How?"

"Leonard is staying. While informing the authorities I may have intimated that I would do the same unless I could bring another friend with me instead."

"What about Howard? Raj?"

He fidgeted. "I wanted you."

He was serious. "Okay, help me pack."

You always planned your life as a sitcom. The high school dramas and clever quips. You moved to LA to start a new season or a spin-off (You can't decide which). You'd have work hijinks, call-backs, and a hunk who'd keep appearing at both. Life happened differently and you wonder when your real story is going to begin.

You never considered the obvious. Never thought it had already started, that you're reaching your sweeps climax, that three knocks and a man nothing like your imagined hunk could be so important.

He has wrecked your script, but you can re-write that.

First kisses could be a bad thing. They could be frightening and horrible. It could be on the hottest day of the year and you're sweating through your double layered shirts. Or it could be on a day when you had a cold and your nose was draining down your throat. Or it could be that you had been late to work because your stupid roommate's in love with your arch nemeses...again.
Or, if you're Sheldon Cooper, it could be all of these things. And when the beautiful girl across the hall kisses you, you forget them all.

All Day. All day she sat on the couch next to Sheldon, who didn't seem to notice her in the least, he hadn't even LOOKED at her when she came in, let alone said hello even. It was all about the Smallville marathon on Space Channel and talking non-stop about the mistakes the show made, how *unscientific* it was. Penny just thought the guy who played Clark was hot. She sighed and started getting up, this was dumb. She began to walk to the door,
'Penny, where are you going?'
Sheldon stared at her unnervingly.
She smiled,
'Nowhere honey.'

And thus my first post here. Drabbles are hard man. I'm sticking to fan art haha.
