There's no good way to start a post about death.  So, Savannah Banana our sweet little hamster has left us for the big hamster wheel in the sky.   I had no idea how attached I had become to her until I had to watch her die Sunday night.  If you think that hamster's are stupid little animals and not worth getting attached to you should probably move ( Read more... )

I completely understand about not liking to be pet-less. That's why I got my gerbils and even though I had two dogs and a cat when the gerbils died (within a week of each other) I still cried about it. Pets are members of the family no matter what kind of pet they are. I'm sending you and Josh hugs.

thanks!
I think most people who have owned/own pets can kind of understand, but I'm sure some people don't get it.

I understand and I'm sorry to hear you lost your pet. It's hard to deal with, we get so attached to our little furry creatures. Animals are living things too, with real emotions and attachments. I'm sure she knows how much you loved her.

I'm so sorry. I understand the attachment to a hammy, and you are completely entitled to your grief. I will be very sad when Ogden passes.

I though of you, Ben and Ogden when it happened and knew that you would understand how sad we were. Josh is ready to get a new hamster already, but I'm still not sure.

I'm sorry. :( I know exactly how you feel. I bawled for hours (and days later) when my piggies died. Me and Cooper are hanging on for now, but he's getting old - I don't know what I'll do alone in my apartment. Probably move out and make Dennis get a dog.

I knew you would understand cause I love that you love/loved your pigs a lot.
I really miss having a dog. I keep telling Mia (Todd and Melinda's dog) that once the baby comes and no one pays attention to her anymore that she can be my dog. Melinda keeps telling it's not going to happen.

Awww. When Georgia's cat was put to sleep, she made me come in while she was gone at work and take away all the cat things so she wouldn't see them. It was really sad for me to do, and I didn't even know the cat that well. It's always terrible when a pet dies, because you loved them.

This was not even close to how sad I was when our last dog died, but she was really sick for at least a month so I kind of had time to get over it. Although I still get sad when I think about her. Pets are easy to love cause unlike people they're completely devoted to you and totally dependent on you and even if Savannah pooped in her stupid ball too much, she never did anything to hurt me.
