A friend of ours came and plowed the driveway for us again. So I had to go for a ride to get the car out of the way - and so I took a scenic tour of the neighborhood. The snowbanks along the road are higher than they've been in many a year and we're expecting more snow over the next couple of days.
I used to love snow as a child - but now see it more as a burden. Something to be shoveled and driven through. As a child it was just a delight. It meant a day off from school, sledding, snowball fights and fort making. I had friends in my urban neighborhood and we would stay outside until we were too cold or our moms drove us inside. Then it would be hot cocoa and drying out ( and maybe another round of snow play after we got dry clothes on.) I have pictures of my friend and I standing atop a snowbank higher that we were tall ( well almost.) Well that snow has come again and I don't look at it quite the same - I've become an old grump!
