I feel so good today! It's a nice change.
The sun is shining, the air is warm. I worked an earlier shift than I usually get - I started at noon - so I had the whole evening to myself. I had an early dinner and headed down to the barn. I tacked up Sugar western and had a marvelous ride in the outdoor arena. Sugar and I were very "together" today, she did exactly what I wanted every time, with no miscommunication. After warmup we did some trotting on a loose rein, circles and over poles. Then we picked up the left lead canter and did more circles and poles. Her canter was beeeeautiful, so relaxed and rhythmic on a nice loose rein. We used a caveletti to help her pick up the right lead canter, and did lots of cantering on that lead. Then she packed me over a crossrail, even though we were riding western, haha. We cooled out by walking around the property and chatting with some barn friends.
Tomorrow morning Sugar has an appointment with a saddle fitter. She is going to fit some shims into Sugar's saddle to make it more comfortable and adjust the fit a little. It will be good!
Last night, Greg picked me up from work with a bouquet of red carnations. <3
