What a lovely weekend I had, despite having a nasty cold. Greg came out to hang with me on Wednesday after work, AND he and Andy came out to see me on Thursday, too (they had the day off) - I was happy :-D I hopped on the bus to Greg's house on Friday night (though it wasn't as simple as it sounds, since the retarded bus driver sat in traffic for an extra hour and a half, taking forty five minutes to drive the length of an Ikea building - refusing to change lanes to go around the left turners, like all the other busses were doing, because he "didn't want to fight traffic". There were a lot of angry people on that bus). Aaaanyway ...
Saturday morning, Greg and I drove out to Maple Ridge, and stopped at the barn to take care of Sugar, who had hurt herself on Friday. She somehow ripped off her entire hind chestnut, so it was raw and bloody underneath - then there was a scratch down the inside of her leg. I called the vet for a phone consult and he told me to keep it clean, cold hose the leg to help with the swelling, and make sure she gets plenty of turnout and light exercise. As of yesterday (Monday), all the swelling was gone, it looks much better.
Back to Saturday morning - we headed out to the Tradex in Abbotsford for the "BC Classic and Custom Car Show", or "World of Wheels" as I've seen it called elsewhere.
We spent a couple of hours there, and saw quite a few people we know (or rather, that I know through Greg, since I don't know many car people of my own accord). The drive home was lovely, it was a beautiful day, and we stopped in downtown Abbotsford for Dairy Queen before going to my house for a BBQ. Lindsay and Nigel were over, and Nigel took me for a ride on his new motorcycle, heehee.
Greg and I headed back to his house that night, taking my bicycle with us, so we could go for a bike ride on Sunday. We ended up going to UBC with the bikes (after shopping around for a bike helmet for me - safety first! We found an awesome tent for $20 at Coast Mountain Sports during this search; we're slowly collecting camping supplies for this summer). It was a perfect day, sunny with a cool breeze, and it was a good bike ride, if not rather exhausting towards the end. It was my first time out on my bike since last summer. I hope to get out on a regular basis now.
Once we got back to Greg's, we BBQed burgers (for the second night in a row, mmm) and watched the hockey game. We hung out for the rest of the evening, and then he drove me home that night.
And now I'm aloooone ... sigh ... but it gives me a chance to do other things I suppose (such as work, since I have two shifts this week). I have to track down some hay, because our usual supplier is out until June, and I only have four bales left. Bah.
Some exciting news ... after months (years?) of flip-flopping, and finally deciding not to go the surgery route of my orthodontic treatment, I had an appointment with my orthodontist yesterday and my braces are only going to be on for another six months! That means that by this fall, they'll be gone ... and I'll have beautifully straight, sparkly white, non-metallic teeth for next Christmas and my 19th birthday - and, well, the rest of my life!
