Well, we just got back from signing the paperwork for the house. It's crazy.
Part of our brains are screaming "What the hell are you doing? You just started looking for a house a few days ago, and you're already signing lease agreements?" But the part of our brains that are in control (hopefully, the sane parts) are going "This place is perfect." Cause it is. I got to go inside it this morning for the first time, and it's wonderful. It needs a little work, especially on the exterior, but it's just flaking paint and untended gardens. Nothing serious. We're actually looking forward to being able to do domestic little things like repainting the window trim, fixing the back fence, weeding the garden. I can't wait! The inside of the house is being almost completely repainted, with new lighting fixtures, stove, fridge, front door, etc. They're laying new tile through the kitchen and utility room. Everywhere else is hardwood floors. There's beautiful, huge windows at the front of the house, and the previous owners left the custom shades installed. There are windows everywhere: every single room, the bathroom, the closets even!
Next Friday morning, Josh will go to pick up the keys and do the move-in inspection, and the place will be ours. Next Saturday, Josh and the Cheshire Singers are singing at the Escondido Renn Faire, so we'll probably be doing that all day. Sunday we hope to start packing and moving. We're going to do a rather long and drawn out move, with lots of little trips with the pick up truck. Josh sings at Faire again the following Saturday, so I think we're actually going to do the big part of the move (couches, bed, bookcases, etc) the weekend after that (April 16-17), unless we get impatient before that. We have the old place until April 24, so there's no rush.
I'm so excited! I can't wait till we're all moved in and can have big housewarming party! Wheee!
