mandatory christmas haul post?

Of course.

Happy christmas, to those of you who celebrate for one reason or another!

Our reason to celebrate is a fake one. But we like gifts! So here's what I got:

  • Cintamani jacket - made from some crazy material I thought was fleece, but is apparently called tecnostretch (from the parents)
  • A blue knit dress from Topshop. It's UK size 8 because out of the blue mom thinks I'm that skinny (Normally, I'm size 12... but sometimes 10 in Topshop clothes). It fits my boobs, but I have a big butt and it's a tight dress (from the parents)
  • The Witch of Portobello by Paulo Coelho (from the parents)
  • A black leather shoulderbag - second-hand so I may actually use it!! (I hate bags that look new and unused) Inside the bag, there were about 20 lollipops and a watergun... (from the sisters, obviously)
  • Fuzzy socks and non-fuzzy underwear (from Seyðisfjörður)
  • A christmas ornament (from Máni and Sól)
  • One of these toys (from Logi and Bína)
  • Ticket to Ride - Europe (from the family to the family)
  • The Saffron Kitchen by Yasmin Crowther (from Vera)
  • A vacuum thermos with a crazy berry pattern!! (from Svava)
  • A glass tealight holder (from Hjördís and Viktor)
  • Chocolates, coffee and a book I can't remember the name of (from Jóhann's family to our family)
  • A gift certificate to Laugar Spa for two (from work)
  • A gift certificate to Skífan record store (from work)
Recently christmas has started to feel like just a regular day where we have decent food and open a bunch of presents. Yesterday, I worked in the morning. The few kids that showed up weren't even that excited - although late morning one of the boys was getting a little impatient and told us that "my feet really hurt... because of Vesturhlíð!", which I thought was funny, so when he saw me laughing he added that he was dying because of Vesturhlíð.

After work, I took a nap, cleaned the bathroom, folded laundry and watched bad TV. Dinner was ready before six (!!!) and we ate quickly, like always. The family is weird as usual - I find them funny but I realize that if we were in public people would probably think we were strange and inappropriate. Whatever. We all slept until nearly three today (!!!), and spent the afternoon on a jigsaw puzzle because our board game was missing the board! Soon, it's time for my favorite meal of the year - even though I only eat the green beans and mashed potatoes and laufabrauð, and skip the meat.

christmas, work
