I was biking home from work yesterday. Wearing nothing but jeans and a t-shirt and my coat (Strange for January, right? Well, it's snowing now...). The weather was nice, and it was just starting to get really dark, and I love biking in the dark (with my lights turned on, obviously!). Anyway, they just installed a bike section on one of the busier roads I ride on on my way home. It's nice, because now I can follow this nice little biking/walking path, ride on the bike section of the road, cross a street, bike on another path that goes through this small park, and then I'm in the downtown area, where the traffic is slower and I don't think I'll get killed biking on the road.
So I'm biking. In the section specifically for bikes. The section that's very well marked, by the way. And all of a sudden there's a car sitting in the middle of my lane. Parked. No driver anywhere in sight.
Seriously? I think that's about as rude and dangerous as parking in the middle of the road. Because I had to brake and ride around the car - and that meant I had to go out on the actual road because I couldn't get up on the sidewalk from that part of the road. And I nearly got killed.
I don't know, maybe I'm just overreacting, or maybe I was just tired from work, but that made me so mad! Would you ever park in the middle of the road? No! And there were PLENTY of parking spots around, too. Gah.
