I reserve judgement on them thus far.
Pros?
- A LOT of dorks as far as interested in JCC.
- A fair amount interested in theater.
- A bunch already have gone skinny dipping in Cayuga Lake (without upperclass prodding)
- A good amount seem to have found lots of new friends.
Cons...
- One definite and terrible incident of homophobic bigotted inexcusable behavior (at least).
- Few know much at all about the protests (although a few did, and I know I knew very little upon matriculation myself) and a few cases didn't know how recent the decision was.
- No room in the dining hall for breathing, or,... eating.
- Sporty mainstream highschoolers.
I tend to lean optimistic, and obviously I'm a male '09, but I have not given up hope by a long shot. Seeing the heap of scantily clad floormates at the variety show tonight, of varying orientations, sexes and genders, was heartening.
Also, there is one freshman who is the coolest boy in the world. Meet David Tyler Bierbauer and be amazed. And Emma. She has frizzy curly hair and likes brie.
