This is my annoyed face

The who with the what now?

moose_biscuit last year took over a work colleague's membership at my gym, on a lower rate than my membership because that person had signed up for a whole year, while I only originially signed up for three months. MB eventually realised that she wasn't going to get to the gym enough to make it worthwhile, so we hatched a plan whereby I would cancel my membership and take over hers, on her lower rate (saving me about a tenner a month).

A couple of weeks back I filled in sixteen million forms (that might be a slight exaggeration, but there were at least three) to put this into action. Cencellation and transfers take a month to go through, so we were both going to have to pay on March 1st and could then cancel our direct debits. All make sense?

I just got a call from the gym saying that MB had cancelled her DD before her last payment, and as a result her membership was immediately cancelled, meaning that I can't take it over.

I had told MB that she'd have to pay for March and only cancel the DD after the payment, so I don't understand what's happened.

For now, I've had to un-cancel my own membership, which is annoying.

I could still transfer to a cheaper rate (the manager who called said she could do me the Manager's Special, which is about £12 less than my rate), but I'd have to sign up for a year, and with my job hunting I don't know whether the gym will be as convenient for wherever I end up working.

It's all very annoying. My rent's about to go up, so the lower gym rate would have levelled that out, so that my monthly outgoings stayed about the same.

I'll have to talk to MB and see what happened at her end.

money, gym
