I've been a bit lacking on the posting front of late.
So... stuff...
We saw Rise of the Silver Surfer last week. It was entertaining fluff - not a patch on the X-Men movies but not nearly as irritating as the pretentious, emo wall crawler. We may go and see Die Hard 4.0 tonight, which I'm quite looking forward to. Oh, and the Transformers trailer may have caused me to geekgasm. Most embarassing.
On saturday Chadwick was contagious - he curled up with me in bed and suddenly I had no desire to get up, so we snuggled and watched cookery programmes until noon.
Wathced a making of the new Potter film on saturday afternoon - an advantage of not having read the books is that seeing sets and new characters isn't remotely spoilery for me, because I have no context for them. The big spoiler was thrust upon me a couple of months back, which rather annoyed me, but c'est la vie.
Anyway, the making of thing demonstrated that the appeal of some actors increases when they're interviewed, and others really should just stick to the script:
- Jason Isaacs refered to himself as 'Luscious' Malfoy, saying that the character deserved the name because he was deliciously evil. This made me want to hug him and squeeze him (and possibly do other, dirtier things to him). He's just lovely.
- Gary Oldman should not do interviews, or at least should not do them without putting on a fake accent, because, while he's wonderfully sexy in many of his film roles, his natural New Cross accent is somewhat less appealing. Sorry, but east enders just don't do it for me.
Sunday was meant to be an RP session and everyone was invited for 3pm. One player showed at 3, the next at about 5pm and
moose_biscuit got home at about 6.30, by which point it was clear that our final player was having house moving issues and wouldn't make it. The next chapter needed all of us, so RP became an Indian takeaway while watching Kiki's Delivery Service (I want Jiji!), followed by a little Coupling (yay for Steven Moffatt and his Dalek references) before the boys had to scoot.
My RP muscles are atrifying.
That brings us mostly to the present. In my spare time I've been working on my new site, which is coming along nicely and the graphics look quite shiny.
Last night I had a dream which definitely involved Hugh Laurie being funny, with someone else, but I can't now remember who. Possibly William Petersen, because I was amused that it was House and someone else from US tv being amusing together. House and Grissom would be a scary partnership.
Ooh, which reminds me that I finally got to see Manhunter on saturday. I've tried several times before but it was always on really late so I'd fall asleep. This time around I happened upon it by accident because I was actually watching a CSI and channel hopping during the first ad break only to see William Petersen's name on screen. So I watched young Gil Grissom Will Graham and switched to the older version during the breaks in the film. Which was odd. Good film, though. Not sure why Brian Cox played Lecktor English, but he was suitably creepy.
And William Petersen was endearingly young. And a forensics guy. My theory is that some psycho killed Will Graham's family and he ended up in witness protection, hiding as a forensics guy in Vegas. His assumed name is a little unimaginative, though: Will to Gil and Graham to Grissom.
Saturday night without new Who felt wrong.
Considering I didn't have much to say, that's a lot of ramble.
