[ these words will never be enough for you ]

discard this veil so heavy over her face
broken bride mud-staind dress as she runs
she can't get away fast enough
from all their laughing faces as they cackle
the humor in the situation failed to find her
left standing at the altar, this too used figure
the groom had run away with the mistress
announced over the loud speaker, her heart cracked
while all the faces watched her fall apart
and in her misery they found the humor
of how she could never keep a hold of him
and while they laughed, she withered
only to be found laying on the grass alone
eyes glassed over as the mud dried in her hair
the cause of death they would always know
her heart as cold as stone as they went by
not caring if her lungs would breathe again.

these colors will bleed away
horizons have never looked so dull
the cliff she overlooks all too high
she wishes she could fly away
take to the sky and never have to land again
she wishes she could feel the sharp edge
as the scene begins to crack and peel
like photographs over an open flame.
