I'd like to keep at least one piece

Dec 01, 2009 23:26

So I intend on doing 31 Days for all of December.  Huzzah.   THE CATCH?  Each fic can only be between 100-200 words.

Don't expect anything mindblowing, and don't feel pressured to comment (though I would love crit if you have any) XD These fics are mostly for me to find new angles for my characters, to practice conciseness, and to keep my writing momentum up.

These are going onto my Dreamwidth account primarily, so you can follow them there if you'd really like.  If I am particularly proud of a piece, it will show up on my LJ too.  I really hope I can keep this up all month XD

Series: Chaos Crisis (pre-campaign, post Black Moon)
Characters: Kazuo, Mitsuko

The blanket Mitsuko brought up didn't make the rough shingles of her roof any more comfortable, but Kazuo didn't complain about it.  They sat up here to watch the city, as it staggered back to normalcy after the near-apocolypse of the night before.  The chill of November settled in, and so had a long silence between the two.

"I don't want to do that to them," Mitsuko said, eventually.  She rest her chin on her knees, hugging her arms around her folded legs.  "What the Black Moon did, it was because we treated them wrong.  We can't forget about that years from now."

Kazuo watched the heavens, searching, wondering where a planet darker than space itself lay.  He knew it was out there, but he didn't know if decades or centuries separated him from the choices that would drive that world's people to madness.

"But we can't obsess either.  We have this year to finish first. "  His hands trembled, so he wrenched them together over his bent knee.  Kazuo shifted, cracked a smile at Mitsuko.  "Our lives now are important too.  Especially your exams."

She smiled back, as if he was right.  Nothing was right, but the lie still comforted.

fics, 31 days
