The school year was winding down. Noah and Kurt decided not to go to McKinley’s prom. They weren’t ashamed, they just decided that it would be better to ease the school into the idea of the two of them. People would have the chance to see them around town during the summer, and then at school in the fall. Mostly, Noah didn’t really care much about the dance, and was afraid that someone would say something to upset Kurt. Instead, they stayed in, took pictures of Finn and Quinn as they headed to the dance. When they were alone in the living room, about to put a movie on, Noah did make one concession to the night by going to the kitchen and bringing Kurt a boutonnière. Kurt laughed, kissed his boyfriend, and pinned it to his vest. Then they bunkered down to watch movies and wait for Finn to get home and tell them about the drama they were sure to miss.

After prom, it was time for the seniors to graduate. Noah accompanied Kurt to Dalton Academy’s graduation ceremony, watching Kurt perform in the going away song, then holding his hand as he teared up when Wes, David, and the other senior members of the Warbler’s received their diplomas. He shook hands with the private school boys, nodding to them in way of thanks for taking care of Kurt during the school year. After, they went to Wes’ house for his graduation party.

There was swimming, and lots of music, and food. Noah enjoyed getting to know Kurt’s friends better. He painstakingly avoided Blaine at all costs, however. “You can’t stare at him until he combusts, you know.” Kurt stated, slipping up behind Noah, wrapping his arms around the bigger boy’s torso.

“I can try,” he grunted back.

“Noah, Blaine and I are fine. We’re still friends. You don’t have to hate him. In fact, I’d prefer if you two made an attempt to get along. We do get together sometimes, maybe he’ll come over to the house… is it too much to ask you don’t want to stab him if he does?”

Noah turned around, wrapping his arms around his boyfriend, “He hurt you. Baby, I can’t look at him without thinking about that. Without knowing he’s a self-absorbed asshole who tossed you away.”

“Babe, that’s not how it happened. Yeah, he is kind of self-absorbed, especially when it comes to dating and love. But we decided, together, to break up. And you should be happy about that. If we hadn’t broken up, you and I never would’ve gotten together.”

Noah kissed him then, before pulling back and smirking, “Maybe I should thank him then. But he’s still a fucking idiot for not wanting to be with you.”

Kurt laughed, “Can he be a fucking idiot that you can at least tolerate speaking to or being in the same room with?”

“Yeah. I’ll try to be nicer. Now, come in the pool with me? You’re pretty fucking hot when you’re wet…” he leered.

“You’re pretty fucking hot all the time,” Kurt’s voice spoke low and raspy before he turned and headed for the pool, knowing Noah would follow behind him.

The next weekend was graduation at McKinley. New Directions performed, and Kurt was there to sit with Noah and Finn during the ceremony. He wasn’t very close to any of the graduating seniors, but he knew some from the classes he’d taken there, and he was happy to see them all move on.

And then, it was summer. All three boys started working for Burt in his shop, alternating days.  Kurt also worked a bit tutoring a middle school girl in French. Noah’s pool cleaning business had closed down for good at the end of the summer before, but he was happy to be learning about cars from Burt. Of the three, he spent the most time there.

“Noah spent five hours straight fixing that damn engine. Didn’t even stop to eat or go to the bathroom. Really, Carole, you should see how good he’s getting in there,” Burt bragged over dinner one night at the end of June.

Noah just shrugged, “I’ve always liked car, just didn’t know much ‘bout ‘em. Dad never stayed around long enough to do that sorta thing. I like it though. It’s fun.”

Everyone agreed and they continued eating. After dinner, Kurt and Noah stayed to clean up in the kitchen, sending the others into the living room to watch TV. “So, I’ve been thinking…” Kurt started.

“No, we will not wear matching outfits on the first day of school.”

“That’s not what I was thinking. Though now that you say it, it does have possibilities…” Noah stopped washing the dishes to give him a hard look when he paused, then Kurt continued, “I think we should go on a little trip, or something. Just to go someplace different.”

“Okay, like where?”

“Anywhere, really. I mean, we could do a day trip to Columbus, or if we could find a way to convince Dad, we could maybe go to Pennsylvania and stay for a weekend in Pittsburg?”

Noah looked at the blush spreading on his boyfriend’s cheeks and smiled, hooking an arm around his waist, “Princess, there is nothing I’d like more than to go away with you for a weekend. But, your Dad won’t even let us be in our rooms with the door closed- there’s no way he’ll let us stay in a hotel somewhere together.”

“Well, that’s where my thinking comes in. If we had Finn with us, it would be okay, right?” at Noah’s uneasy nod he continued, “and Finn wouldn’t really want to hang around us for a whole weekend. But if Quinn went too? Her mom will let her do anything. So, we tell Dad the three of us are going, pick Quinn up on our way out of town, and take a weekend trip. Staying in separate hotel rooms as them, of course, because- Finn and Quinn? Ew. They’re kind of all over each other.”

Noah kissed Kurt when he finally shut his mouth and smiled, “We’re kinda all over each other too, ya know? But I think it’s an awesome plan. Make it happen, Daddy’s Boy.”

Kurt slapped Noah’s ass and turned to the living room, leaving Noah to finish drying the dishes. “Finn? Would you like to play Call of Duty with us in Noah’s room?”

Noah could hear Finn get up and the two other boys headed down to his room as he hung the dish towel up to dry, following after them with a smile.

So, was it horrible? Pretty good? Whatcha think?
