A Glass of Milk in the Night, Chapter 8

May 08, 2011 18:40

You feel the weight
Of lies and contradictions that you live with every day
It's not too late
Think of what can be if you rewrite the role you play
Take a step before you leap into the colors that you seek
You get back what you give away
So don't look back on yesterday

Wanna scream out, no more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside
Gonna tell ya you'll be alright
In the aftermath
Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the aftermath

Before you break you have to shed your armor
Take a trip and fall into the glitter
Tell a stranger that they’re beautiful
So all you feel is love, love
All you feel is love, love

Wanna scream out, no more hiding
Don't be afraid of what's inside
Wanna tell you you'll be alright
In the Aftermath

Anytime anybody pulls you down
Anytime anybody says you're not allowed
Just remember you are not alone
In the Aftermath

While he was singing, most of the Glee clubbers were confused and trying to figure out why Noah Puckerman was singing an Adam Lambert song. Finn was smiling and had his arm around Quinn, who was sitting with him with a smile on her face. Britney was dancing with her pointer fingers while Santana looked absolutely pissed. Everyone else was just enjoying the music. When the song ended, though, Puck took Kurt’s hand and pulled him up to stand with him, kissing him quickly on the lips. “Yeah, so, Kurt and I are dating.”

Kurt blushed bright red when a few of the members of New Directions whistled and jeered a bit. Even Mr. Schue looked a little flustered by the news. Tina was the first to speak, “That’s kinda hot,” she stated. When Mike looked at her, she smiled and said, “Not as hot as you, of course.”

“What about Blaine?” Rachel demanded.

“Blaine and I both decided that we were better as friends a few months back. He’s fully supportive of Noah and my relationship.”

“Wait, Curly knew about this before I did?” Mercedes demanded.

Noah laughed, “He kind of found out by accident.”

“Boy, you have got some serious making up to do for me. Sleepover at my house this weekend, and I will demand lots of ice cream and details.”

Kurt groaned but agreed and Mr. Schue invited Kurt to sit in and listen to the other songs the glee clubbers were performing. After they finished for the afternoon, Kurt gave Finn the keys to his Navigator and climbed in the passenger seat of Puck’s truck. They held hands on the way home and Kurt finally spoke as they were pulling into the driveway, “That song. It was beautiful. Thank you.”

“It was for both of us. No matter what happens, we’ll be okay. I swear it.”

“I know Noah. I know.”

The whole school soon knew about Noah and Kurt. Most people kept their mouth’s shut, too afraid of Puck to say anything to his face. Which is not to say that they weren’t talking behind his back. He heard what they were saying. Mostly that he was such a whore he’d been through all the girls and had to move on to boys. He didn’t care though. He was happy.

Jacob Ben Israel came to him immediately for an “interview” for his blog. He openly spoke to the curly-haired kid, telling him the basics- that he was bisexual, that he was in a relationship with Kurt, that yes, he was living with the Hummels, and no, he would not say anything about their sexual relationship.

Kurt laughed when he read it all online. It seemed much juicier when Jacob put it in his gossip-rag form. And of course, he had his own speculations. But really, Kurt just found it funny.

Noah had to deal with a few of the jocks saying shit to him in the hallways, but none of them had the guts to do anything more than that. Through all of this, Kurt was coming to a realization.

He spoke to his father, and Carole. They had one big conversation, and Burt agreed to make a few phone calls. A few days later, Burt gave his son the answer he was looking for and Kurt hugged him tightly before running down to the basement. “Noah!” he shouted, tackling the other boy where he stood coming out of the bathroom.

“What? What’s wrong?” Noah asked, pulling back to look at the smaller boy.

“Wrong? Nothing’s wrong!” Kurt smiled, “Everything is amazing! I’ve got big- no huge- news for you. Maybe you should sit down.”

Noah smiled at the excitement evident in his boyfriend and obliged by sitting on his bed, pulling Kurt down with him. “Okay, now are you going to tell me this huge news?”

“Noah, next year I’m going back to McKinley!” he practically squealed.

“You’re what? Seriously?”

“Absolutely. Cross my heart. Are you excited?”

“No, I’m fucking thrilled. You better not be fucking with me,” Noah growled, flipping them around so Kurt was lying on the bed with Noah poise over him.

Kurt answered breathlessly, “Never. Not about this.”

With that, Noah lowered himself down and kissed Kurt until they both had to pull back to breathe. “I love you. So much, baby.”

“I love you too Noah.”

A/N: The song, if you don't know it, is "Aftermath" by Adam Lambert <3
