yet another update
Today was the 8 month (32 week) checkup with the midwife.
* uterus now measures 30cm
* everything is softening and starting to get ready for labor
* MM was able to, uh, feel the baby's head
* he's low and in perfect position (though there's plenty of time for that to change)
* I gained 1.5 lbs in the past month, totaling 11 lbs since I started seeing MM and 14 lbs since I first got pregnant. At first MM and her helper were telling me that I need to eat eat eat and gain more because that's simply not enough. She told me I need to understand calories in things better and I told her I absolutely understand calories in things too well. Then she felt the baby and said wow, he's not scrawny, never mind on the weight gain, whatever you're doin' is perfect, let's not fatten him up too much. He weighs ~4.75 lbs. I'm no longer worried and hopefully now I'll stop having nightmares that my tummy is shrinking and the baby is gone.

* MM wants me to start my maternity leave much earlier than I'd planned. She said she'll come for a home visit on 8/27 and wants me on leave by then. I told work long ago I'd stay til 9/8.
* MM also said 75% of her clients give birth between 41 and 42 weeks, and that she believe 40 weeks is an arbitrary and incorrect time to place a due date. Oy! Longer to wait!
I think that's it. We paid off our bill with her and now we just wait for the baby to grow and then come play with us.
