Oh Happy Day!
I'll retire my default icon after today, because, well, we're home and hosed. :)
What a happy day on so many levels. Personally, I feel the world is a teeny bit safer as of today. I did get to watch most of the inauguration (how come Biden's oath was about twice as long as Obama's? Did the justice dude get it wrong, or is it always like that).
Specific Squee: He mentioned non-believers. Unlike the last moron who apparently believes atheists should have their citizenship rescinded.
Specific annoyance: There is no place for prayers/benedictions/references to god at an official ceremony for the highest office in a land that believes in separation of church and state. *grumps*. Swearing on the bible should NOT be a condition of office and it blurs that separation. (if it's not a legal requirement, it's a defacto one, it seems).
More specific Squee: Just..... happiness. And Aretha Franklin's hat. And a corny song on Irish radio by the Corrigans that goes "O'Reilly, O'Leary, O'Hare and O'Hara, there's no one more Irish than Barack Obama" Watch it on YouTube here:
And in other news, I can watch the Aussie open!! There's some stream on the free cable channels that show recorded matches, And there's live bits on the BEEB if I'm still awake at midnight. (So thank you to those who put Aussie Open news behind a cut. It's appreciated. :) )
Hmmmmm. I wish there was a good woman player I really liked with a decent chance. Unfortuanatly, I doubt Momo will have much hope of lasting through, and apart from the boring Russians and the obnoxious Serbians and the irritating Williams sisters, who's left? Blah. I wish Henin was still around. Hmmm, note to self, check what other French players are in there. They often have an interesting game.
