Thanks for the love and vibes. The demotion was more of a restructuring, I guess, but still an ego blow for Randy. Things are actually ok. He opted to stay and take on a store. They are not cutting his pay, although his monthly bonus potential decreases a bit and the health insurance increases a bit. He goes back to store hours, but it also means he's no longer on call 24-7. His stress level will decrease a million-fold. All in all, we're fine. He decided to stay because they're keeping his salary the same, so why not get paid to job search? It has finally provided that last bit of a push for him to want to leave. Thank fucking goodness. All of these changes will happen around the first of the year. The first night was rough. He kept wanting me to tell him what I wanted him to do. I didn't really want to give an opinion because he's the one that has to go in there every day. I said I would support whatever he wanted to do. Initially, he really wanted to leave in a blaze of f-bombs. But, after hours of processing, he decided to stay while actively pursuing something else. I do think, though, that if it hadn't been for this house, he would have walked.

Oh yes, the house. So, I called our friend/realtor and told her that Randy lost his job and thought she was going to pass out. She's spent so much time convincing the buyers to meet our demands, the thought of telling them we were going to lose financing almost killed her. We thought about backing out, losing the earnest money and inspection fees while still selling our house. But, since he didn't technically lose his job (he would have to actually quit), we would be open to litigation. I honestly don't think the seller would have sued us. Randy knows him and could have bit the bullet and called him up to explain and apologized. The guy would understand. He would be pissed, of course, but probably not sued us. The thing is, we are going to be financially better off after buying this house. We stand to make a good deal of profit on our house. We'll be putting enough down on the new one that our house payment barely changes. Plus, we'll have money left over to apply towards debt and put in savings. So, we decided to continue with the purchase. That means we are moving today and tomorrow. We are getting early possession because the closing is Wednesday, but we can't move that day. It's Randy's biggest work day of the year. So, our house is a complete shithole and there is stuff and boxes everywhere. But, I'm about to go grab some sustenance (aka donuts) and get this mother started.

When all is said and done, I'm probably going to get drunk. It's been a hell of a fucking week. I'll probably be too tired to actually follow through with even cracking a beer, though.
