One Small Step broke 600 reviews this week. O_O
It's listed in 77 communities, 733 favorites, and 783 story alerts on Fanfiction.Net. On the one hand, it's so cool that my fanfic has received so much positive feedback. It makes me very happy. (^_^) On the other hand, I'm freaking out. (O_o) The next time I update that fic, at least 783 people will be emailed about it! Yikes!
I love hearing from my readers, but... you know... In some ways, I think it was easier to write back when I didn't have so many "watchers." I feel like I've set a bar for myself that I need to meet (or exceed) with every update - and I don't know if I can do it! OMG. The pressure. Excuse me while I have a minor meltdown in the corner.
I'm kidding about the meltdown mostly. ^^;
I wonder how other writers handle it?
Other News:
Ethan was sick all of last week - and he missed his Valentine's Friendship Party and Potluck at his preschool last Friday. Poor little guy. But he recovered in time to spend a fun weekend in S.F. and celebrated the Lunar New Year sniffle-free! He's a happy little boy again and going to preschool this week! ^_^
Unfortunately, Shawny still has no downtime... because this week is also President's Week (as opposed to President's Day). >_< For those of you not familiar with holidays in the U.S, President's Day is when we remember and honor two of our presidents (George Washington and Abraham Lincoln). In the past, public schools were closed for President's Day.
Last year (2008-2009 school year), the Folsom Cordova Unified School District closed its schools for two days in February: one day for Washington's birthday and one day for Lincoln's birthday. However, this year, the schools are closed for the entire week. I've heard through rumors and from other parents that this is because of budget cuts. Everyone is calling it Furlough Week.
My reaction: They're cutting instructional days from our public schools, too?! Fuck. California's budget is seriously messed up.
... and I'm going to stop here - before I turn this into a giant political and financial rant. Ugh.
Anyways, Talia is home from school for the entire week. Instead, several moms in the neighborhood are organizing playdates for the kids. Fun times for the kids. More work for the moms. I'll have downtime next week - and maybe I'll finally get some writing or sewing time in!
