I turned the calendar this morning and thought: "MAY? It barely feels like April outside."
Oh well. Little green babies are starting to grow more noticeably. Radishes are close to picking, snap pea shoots have broken ground, asparagus is coming along gangbusters and we even had a delish salad of all the leafy thinnings from one of the beds.
Now that night temps are solidly above the frost zone, I'm going to the garden center today or tomorrow to get all my bedding plants (flower and vegie) and basket stuffers. I'm also going to try some new-to-me herbage...French Sorrel, Loveage, and (my new fave) Fennel. As well as all the usual annual herbs: summer savory, dill, cilantro and mucho mucho basil. I've still got two packets of frozen pesto from last year's crop!
On the art front, I'm messing with two pieces that are completely different. One (16x20)is a washy Japanese-feeling-scenic in paynes grey, turq pthalo, raw umber and irridescent bronze (I just love the way that colour separates in a wash). The other is a four-foot sq. canvas and it's a stark, primal abstract in red, black, yellow and white. (Where do these impulses come from?) I'll post some pics of them soon.
I also have a 24x24 canvas I may start later today. The texture layer is already done and fits perfectly with an image that arose from the Eckhart/Oprah conversation in A New Earth Week 7. For anyone who is also "there" it's the realization that tho' we perceive time to be flowing horizontally (and react that way), Presence is vertical, and Awareness is the intersection of the two. The Christian cross could be considered an iconic representation of that. (At least that's my interpretation of what Tolle said). Anyway, my iconic representation has been evolving since I heard that and I look forward to getting it out on canvas.
Alotta blab for one session. So here's a couple of pics from my b'day last week.
At dinner, about to dig into my "triple threat" chocolate dessert at Amuse Bistro.
My dear Evo, after dinner. The piece behind him (Horizon 2: Connected) is one of four of mine that hang in the restaurant.
Amongst other things, E gave me a Chef's apron (which I asked for) and Chef's hat (which I didn't). So...Caryl's Creative Culinary Classes must be starting soon?
