I can't believe I'm adding this to my do-to list, but I've decided to attempt NaNo again this year. My profile can be found at:
http://www.nanowrimo.org/user/221672 I really enjoyed doing NaNo last year, and I didn't finish last year. I'm certain I won't finish this year either, because school comes first. And work comes second, and then the ratfaces, and the Erixes, and then NaNo.
Speaking of work, my job with ITS hired a new receptionist. She works directly before me, and her name is Jennifer. They didn't tell me they'd hired someone new, but today was her first day, and she seemed a little flustered. *shrug*
ANNNDDDD... on the job front, also, I heard back from the GA position. Geoff called me and said that he got rave reviews from my references (mostly my former advisor Kia, who emailed to me make sure it was okay that she avoided using pronouns for me and that she's been practicing), and that he was "interested in pursuing me for the position" (which I thought sounded kinky as hell, but I'm sure he didn't mean it that way).
Anyway, for that position, he wants me to give a 10-minute presentation on Friday. He says the topic is of my choice and he suggested perhaps a presentation about a particular study skill, how the center might reach different types of populations, or something along those lines, and he said to email him about what technology I'd need to have available by Thursday, so he can make sure to have it reserved. I'm thinking about doing something related to reaching out to English-Language Learners, since that is what my Masters work is in, but I'm not sure yet how I'm going to structure it. I want it to be something that's "fun". My audience is the directors of the program and their assistants, so at most four people, but probably only 2 or 3, so I can make it pretty personable.
I also have a job interview with UPS on 30 October, at 11pm. It's for a night-shift position as a package handler. A great workout, I've been told, and they schedule 3-5 hour shifts, and pay pretty well. I figure I can work like, 9p-3a, and still be fine for school and things. It'll especially give me something to do over the holidays when I won't have school to distract me.
Also, the teacher that I student taught with was featured in the local paper:

Today is a good day, and life is awesome.
PS I did my shot last night, as the start of my 10-days. I only mention this, because it didn't hurt at all, it still doesn't hurt, and I'm afraid that if I don't say it here, I'll forget (even though I have it on my calendar).
