Theaterish

So, I saw War Horse.  There were about two minutes of, "Am I buying this?"  And then I bought it.  The story is kind of dopey, if traumatizing at times, but the puppetry is truly impressive.  I didn't get random minstrel guy, really, but that's okay.  The goose was awesome, though I'm not sure how you put that on your resume.

I also watched the first two episodes of The New Normal.  Um.  Let's just begin by saying that Ryan Murphy really bugs me, and apparently Andrew Rannell's character is based on Ryan Murphy.  So I kept having to not think about Ryan Murphy apparently thinking he's as cute as Andrew (he's not) and that he apparently wants/has a straight-seeming boyfriend.  Andrew is way over the top, but the thing is set in the Murphyverse where people in the park have random confessionals to the camera, so whatever.  I'm just not sure the show knows what it wants to be, yet.  It's not exactly a laugh-a-minute comedy, nor is it really a dramady.  It's just sort of cute with a side of sledgehammery issues and occasionally terrifyingly awful writing.  I likely wouldn't watch it if Andrew weren't in it.
