My sister and niece crossed into Oregon about an hour ago. Barring traffic in the cities they have about 6-8 hours to go to get here. Most of the stuff I needed to do for their arrival is done. I have some cleaning and vacuuming to do, of course. I have to finish cleaning out the hot tub (which has been waiting for a warm day - and we finally have one!) and mow the lawn (which has also been waiting for the grass to dry out). I have a huge pile of towels and blankets and sheets and so forth to go thru, organize, cull out some stuff, and put back in the bathroom linen "closet". That I'm saving for last, since it will be easy if tedious. I have a friend who will welcome any extra linens I am willing to give up, so the extras won't be homeless for long.
I've got the back bedroom all done up for Lisa too. She's 14 and still in hormonal flux, so I thought she'd like to have a space she can go be by herself if she gets a bit out of whack. We got the 27" tv up on the dresser, hooked up the dvd player and a cable converter box. The couch is in there so she can sit, watch a movie, sleep, play on her laptop, whatever strikes her fancy. Once they go back home and my friend claims the couch I'm going to put in a counter so I can set up my laptop in there with the scanner and scan all my pictures, do craft projects like my Christmas cards, and get into more than one day long projects because I'll be able to just stop wherever and close the door, come back later and pick up where I left off. Handy for the picture scanning project. That's going to take a looooong time. But I can put all my craft stuff in the dresser drawers. The small drawered cabinet we have it all in now is far too small to hold everything. Some of the big pads of scrapbooking paper are too big to even fit in the cabinet downstairs. Yay getting organized.
Well, enough stalling. Time to go get breakfast and get started on my day. Abby is whining at me to get it in ger so she can have breakfast.
