Having completed all her farm work for the day, Suki's decided that it's time to do some laundry. With so few clothes in her wardrobe, it's not a major chore. But it's a frequently necessary one. So, some time before dark, she can be found at the kraken pool hand-washing her small selection of pants and tops and underwear. If there's a washing ( Read more... )

"a-ano..." There is a small and polite interruption.

"Wouldn't you rather do that inside?"

Windows 95 is not sure that one would want to wash laundry in water that is probably teeming with kraken poo.

Suki looks up from her work and shrugs.

"Not really. The sinks are kinda small and I didn't want to make a mess," she explains.

There's a smile for the girl now. They may not be formally acquainted, but the Kyoshi has seen her around the farm.

"Hi. I'm Suki."

She bows in return. "I am Windows 95. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance.

"Ano... it doesn't seem very sanitary, does it?"

Suki lifts a quizzical eyebrow.

"It's fresh water. And I have soap. What's not sanitary about it?"

Well, Spots will just have to get over it, or risk upsetting his BFF, because Sokka is approaching with Louise on his hip

"Pots!" Loo squeals, delighted.

Sokka just waves, though.

Spots sucks it up and swims over to greet Loo, tentacles flailing happily. Still kneeling and hard at work, Suki looks up mid-scrub and grins at the youngster, and, by nature of their proximity, at Sokka too.

"Hi Louise! Hi Sokka."

"Come to help me?" she asks, teasingly.

"Hi Pots, hi Soodie!" Loo beams at everyone, immediately toddling toward the lake the second Sokka sets her down on her feet.

Sokka grins at her and nods to Suki, eyeing her laundry for a minute. "Um... well, I came to babysit but I'll help if you want. You should know, though, Steph always re-does the laundry when I do it, it's not clean enough or something."

"Somehow, that doesn't surprise me," Suki giggles, and flicks some soap suds at him. She's still not a hundred percent comfortable around him, but she's getting there. Steph being so cool really helps.

"I was only kidding, I'm nearly done."

"Ew," Steph says, wandering past at some point. "Suki, you do know that's disgusting, don't you?"

She's referring mostly to the murky near-black kraken water, but hey, who knows - it could be Suki's medieval underthings.

Suki looks around and fires Steph a smile.

It's followed quickly by an over-exaggerated pout.

"It's not that bad," she protests, assuming that Steph is talking about the water, which looks a lot worse than it actually is due to the fading light. "Just a bit silty."

The pool is fed by an underground spring. Spots wouldn't survive here if it was totally stagnant and smelly.

As for her underwear, the pair the Kyoshi is currently washing are indeed primitive. Fire Nation prison issue, you see. There's some Earth underwear in the laundry pile too though, claimed from an only half-demolished department store during her time in Tokyo. They're far nicer.

"Spots poops in that," Steph informs her, sliding down to her knees and reaching for the next item to help Suki out, grinning. "You know we have washing machines to do this, right?"

"Poo sinks," Suki says, after a giggle and a grateful smile for the help. She passes Steph the bar of soap. "And yeah, Windows told me about the machine."

"I kinda like doing it this way though."

She doesn't trust machines in general just yet.

Zuko... isn't doing laundry.

Presumably he does at some point - at least his clothes tend to be clean most of the time. Spoiled royalty get used to that. However, at this point, he's just passing, and slows, seeing Suki.

"Hey."

Suki turns while wringing out a pair of track pants, and smiles at him.

"Hi Zuko. What're you up to?"
