We had bitter gourd as part of lunch today. I don't like it, so it kind of dampened my mood (along with something that happened in the morning - my own fault) but then, they played Hikari no Signal during lunch broadcast and it made things easier to swallow. I felt like a kid.
So, this article! It's a group article from a regular magazine, so it's longer! I used to have a list of articles that I wanted to translate which I made about 2 years ago, before or right after I went on my scanning hiatus, so the list was based on what I've scanned so far. This article is the last one on the list. Yes, it took me two years to translate everything on the list and it wasn't like it was a whole lot either! Any other articles I want to translate from hereon, I will actually have to flip through magazines because I obviously don't have any of the regular magazines scanned and still working on scanning a lot of older magazines that are outside of the regular ones.
The point is! I've been meaning to translate this for ages! Taisuke's birthday countdown gave me a good excuse to finally work on the translation properly.
Less than one day until Taisuke's birthday!!
Translation. Members split into the older three and the younger four for a crosstalk. They talk about many things, from what if they become fathers to rebellious phases to how to deal with babies to having pets. Find out what members want to do when they have kids in the future.
Kis-My-Ft2
you’re my sweetie!
This month, they split into two teams - one playing with a baby and one playing with a cat - for the photoshoot. The talk theme is “What if members became papas who are friends?”
If my daughter brings her boyfriend back home, I’d definitely battle with him (laughs)
Kitayama: Ahh~ A photoshoot with a baby is difficult! She cried on us a lot. Whose fault is this?
Yokoo: (kind of overlapping with Kitayama’s voice) It’s Nikaido. His way of comforting is intense, intense (laughs). He’s really fawning over her, but if he could go a little softer...it’s like that (laughs).
Fujigaya: I’ve never been cried on so much by a small child before, so I had thought, “If only I was born with a slightly cuter face...” but it wasn’t my fault then (laughs). Yosh, let’s make that guy cry later (laughs).
Kitayama: Normally, I don’t have chances to interact with such a small child. I didn’t know how to interact with her.
Yokoo: I know what you mean. I’m a bit used to it though, with my older brother’s kids.
Fujigaya: I guess it’s my friend’s kids for me. It’s not like I meet with them very often though.
Kitayama: We were all being very cautious. When we actually see a male staff member who really does have a kid and carry the baby familiarly, it was like, “Ohh!” and I was a bit moved (laughs).
Yokoo: Sounds of awkwardness were probably heard from us (laughs). When we become fathers in the future, you two would both seem to become doting parents~ Especially Mitsu would be the type to always “carry around two cameras” (laughs).
Kitayama: There’s something I’ve decided. If I have a daughter, she’d bring home her boyfriend, yea? ...I’d definitely have a battle with that guy (laughs).
Yokoo: That does have kind of “a man’s dream” feel to it (laughs). I want to do that too!
Fujigaya: I definitely want to do that too! It’s fine to “want to do it”, but before that, we ourselves, have the possibility of experiencing that as the boyfriend (laughs).
Yokoo: I’m prepared for that.
Kitayama: Then, if that boyfriend is someone who has a proper backbone, from there, we’d be able to trust each other...a pattern like that would be nice. Anyhow, at first, I want to show him, “I’m not going to hand you my daughter so easily.”
Yokoo: What if that guy is someone who’s super gaudy? I’d take out a pair of hair clippers and shave his whole head (laughs).
Fujigaya: They did that on TV not too long ago. A girl brought an actor who looks super gaudy and with stern looks to her parents and introduced him as “my boyfriend”...it was a prank-like thing (laughs).
Yokoo: Ah, I watched that too!
Kitayama: How did the parents react?
Fujigaya: As expected, everyone opposed. With a man who wore totally B-Boy fashion and had a bandana wrapped around his head, the father was gaping at the man (laughs). To the question of “What job do you have?”, he said, “Ah, I’m in a gang at Shibuya now” (laughs). It was super funny.
Yokoo: Right. Then at the end, she brings in her real boyfriend...that’s how they revealed the prank.
Kitayama: If the boyfriend my daughter brings is that kind of guy, it’s a punch, a punch!
Fujigaya: If you go the girl’s home to greet her parents in the future, I wonder what kind of clothes should one wear?
Yokoo: As expected, a suit, right?
Fujigaya: Yea. You’d take off all accessories too, yea. As expected, we have to think of TPO.
Yokoo: Fujigaya’s hair - what will you do about that flashy feel of how your hair flips outwards (laughs)?
Fujigaya: Flips outwards!? ...right, I have to think about that too!
Yokoo: Let’s leave that to a pro hair stylist...right? Like, “Please go for a look that makes me look like a reliable man”. We must use the privilege of our job (laughs).
Kitayama: Ahahaha, that’s good!
Fujigaya: Not just our hairstyles, but if we have them prepare clothes for us to wear too, it’ll be perfect! We’ll ask a writer to write our resume and recommendation letter to send to her family too. Then when that time comes, we’ll just have to leave the complete set of service to Wink Up-san (laughs).
Kitayama: Then, we’ll ask our manager to drive us to and back from the location (laughs).
Yokoo: Right. When I’m close to getting into a fight with the girl’s father, it’s possible to have the manager to get in between us and make an appeal about me, saying, “He has good points such as this” (laughs).
Kitayama: After that, we can have the manager explain calmly about our work and our yearly schedule from hereon (laughs).
Yokoo: Then, from the morning of that day, if we have Wink Up’s cameraman take photos for record, it’s...(laughs)
All: Perfect!
Fujigaya: Since we will have full cooperation from Wink Up-san, please have this in black and white (laughs).
Yokoo: Then, in the car we travelled in, we’ll have members waiting in it. The moment we get an OK, they come out with a bang...
Fujigaya: S-surely, not rollerskates!?
Kitayama: We’ll go skating around the couple (laughs).
Fujigaya: That’s pretty much work (laughs)! Going back to the topic of kids, I’d like a girl for my kid too. Then the second one will be a boy.
Yokoo: I’d like that too. More like, the three of us all don’t have female siblings.
Kitayama: Yea. I’m an only child.
Yokoo: Fujigaya and I both have two brothers.
Fujigaya: So that’s why I want a daughter! That reminds me, I’ve always wanted an older sister.
Kitayama: My dream is to see “my daughter helping her mom”. Moms tend to be solitary at home, right? Having a daughter help such a mother......what a good kid! While getting a bit teary and watching the two of them, I’ll drink beer in the kotatsu (laughs). [Note: Kotatsu is a low covered table with a heat source underneath it.]
Yokoo: You’re going to get told, “Dad, you help out too!” Or, while saying, “Seriously, you’re annoying,” your daughter will head off to Shibuya (laughs).
I’d give her some coins and say, “With this, go to the coin laundry!”
Fujigaya: Really! So there’s a chance she will become such a daughter too! What will I do if I get told, “Don’t wash my things with Dad’s things”...
Kitayama: Then, I’ll say, “Mama, please buy another washing machine” (laughs). No, no, she won’t grow up to be like that!
Yokoo: If it was me, I’d give her some coins and say, “With this, go to the coin laundry!”
Fujigaya: Ohh~ That’s nice! You’ll show her, “Papa may be thin, but he’s strong” (laughs). When I was young, I was raised by my parents in a strict manner too, so I think I will too, become strict when it comes to discipline in important things. As expected, it won't be good if parents are looked down on. I really respect my parents.
Yokoo: Did the two of you have a rebellious phase? I didn’t have one.
Fujigaya: Lies! Seriously!?
Yokoo: None, none at all. I don’t have any memories of it. I have two older brothers, so I’ve seen their rebellious phases and my parents were experienced about it too, so I think they knew how to deal with guys during their puberty.
Kitayama: I had it, like anyone would. I was going to meet with my friend at the park and when I tried to left home at 9 o’clock at night, my parent got mad at me, saying, “It’s before exams so you go study!” I already studied before that though, so that’s why I tried to go out anyway, but then she stood in front of me and blocked my way, saying “If you’re going to go out, go after you knock me down!” (laughs). As expected, I didn’t do that, but indeed very puberty-like...it’s an episode that feels that way, yea (laughs).
Fujigaya: I also fought quite a bit with my mom. My mom was heated up too. My mom moves surprisingly fast (laughs). After experiencing that phase though, I came to see various things like the weakness of women and how strong the existence of a father is.
Yokoo: At what timing does one’s rebellious phase come to an end?
Fujigaya: I’m the oldest son, yea? Eventually, the rebellious phase of the brother under me started to overlap with mine. That’s why, it became like “Mom vs the two of us”. Then one day, when I thought calmly about it, I went, “Mom must be really troubled with this.” It’s from there. I understood, “The only way is for me to become an adult.” My brother must have thought though, “Why are you suddenly pretending to be a good child?”
Yokoo: Heh~ I see. With my family, if someone rebels, my father would step forward, and I felt that my dad was scary...so first, there wasn’t really a reason for me to rebel (laughs).
Fujigaya: I see...eh, somehow, since a while ago, we’re talking like it’s for a magazine about child rearing, but this is Wink Up, right (laughs)?
Kitayama: But amongst those reading this, there are probably a lot of people who are just in the middle of their rebellious phase. Speaking of rebellious phases, it’s not just within families, but at work like this too, I can tell, “Aah, this guy is in his rebellious phase” (laughs). Juniors are just basically a gathering of people right in the middle of their puberty. Especially me, I’m one of the older ones in the group, so I really understand things like, “He started to have his own opinion.”
Yokoo: I might have had something like that. I didn’t have a rebellious phase at home, but at work like this or at school too.
Kitayama: One that was obvious was Nikaido (laughs).
Yokoo: He still kind of has a rebellious phase left though (laughs).
Kitayama: That guy, if I remember correctly, 2~3 years ago, he said these famous words to me, “Don’t interfere in my affairs!” (laughs).
Yokoo: I remember that! Mitsu got angry and went, “I’m going to ignore Nikaido now!”
Kitayama: Hahaha. I think that was good in its own way though. It’s because of that, we have a relationship where we can say our true feelings to each other.
Yokoo: That’s right. Immediately after that, the two of you immediately got closer.
Fujigaya: “Don’t interfere” “It’s none of your business” - they’re typical words of a rebellious phase (laughs). Which reminds me, I feel like I said something like that to my parents too (laughs).
Kitayama: When you have siblings, the power of your parents would be dispersed, yea? In my case, since I’m an only child, that energy focused all on me (laughs). That’s why at that time, I think I felt that annoyingness quite a bit.
Fujigaya: Speaking of siblings, it’d go back to the topic earlier, but I really wanted an older sister. My relatives were pretty much all guys too and the older sister of my friend from school was very pretty (laughs). She was like the school’s madonna. When I asked that guy, “How is she like at home?” he replied with, “Eh, she’s just normal,” but I wasn’t satisfied with that somehow (laughs).
Kitayama: The school’s madonna is in his home after all (laughs).
Yokoo: It’s nice, having a pretty older sister. Like friends from school coming over to play because they want to see my sister - I do long for that a bit (laughs).
Fujigaya: Right, right? While retorting with, “Your target is my sister!” brag a bit...something like that (laughs).
Yokoo: Also, getting close to my sister’s boyfriend and get taken to various places would be nice too. If it was a younger sister, I’d fight with her boyfriend once at the beginning. Then after that, we’d become friends and I’d look after him.
Kitayama: That’s the same pattern as my “daughter’s boyfriend” I talked about at the beginning (laughs)!
Yokoo: Hahaha. After that fight, I’d run into my sister’s boyfriend on the streets or something, and he’d call out to me, “Ah, oniichan, hello!” and I’d reply like someone older, “O-oh!”...that’d be nice too.
Fujigaya: Uwah, I can really imagine that (laughs)! We might be talking about these things, but in reality, I’m sure we won’t have an older or younger sister to our ideals. It might be an older sister who work people really hard (laughs).
Yokoo: That’s fine, that’s fine. It’s because these kinds of delusions are fun (laughs).
Today might have been the first time I’ve touched such a small kid!!
Senga: Babies are seriously cute~!!
Miyata: Teacher! Today, Nikaido suddenly made the baby cry~
Nikaido: Who’s the teacher (laughs). I learned something this time though. My way of interaction is fit for kindergartners and up (laughs).
Tamamori: Really, it did feel that way. If it was a kindergartner, that way of interaction would be something they’d go wa~h happily at. For babies though, they’d go wa~h and cry (laughs).
Nikaido: More like, today might have been the first time I’ve touched such a small kid!!
Senga: I see. I had a young cousin, so I’m totally used to it. Just now too, I played house with her!!
Tamamori: I’ve touched babies just a bit too when my cousin was that age. I did feel this today though - babies are scary! They’re really cute, but I have no idea how to comfort them. I’d wonder what I should do if I make them cry too. Despite how like Nikaido knows nothing about babies, it’s amazing how you can charge at them (laughs). For me, I was completely satisfied with just watching from afar.
Nikaido: No, if you go at them seriously, your hearts should be able to communicate together!
Miyata: And when you went at her seriously like that, the baby went wa~h and cried (laughs)!
Nikaido: No, no, at first, I just hugged her from behind!
Miyata: For a baby, that’s scary enough (laughs).
Nikaido: From now on, I’ll think about how to approach small kids. But I was able to hear the words that baby was thinking about.
Tamamori: You’re able to understand from just her cries (laughs). What did she say?
Nikaido: “Mama, who are these people?” (laughs)
Miyata: Indeed, it’s probably something like that. She didn’t leave her mom’s side.
Senga: Despite that, at a different moment, when I looked over at Nikaido’s way, this time, he was kneading the baby’s head (laughs). Of course she’d be surprised and cry!!
Nikaido: That’s because like the parting of her hair, it’s super cute! Her hair is super soft too! Not kneading, but say I was caressing her!
Tamamori: At that moment, the baby should have been complaining, “Geez~ This person is very annoying!” (laughs).
Nikaido: She didn’t cry then though, so it was surely fun. ......I don’t know what is correct when it comes to ways to approach babies (laughs).
Miyata: By the way, if we become fathers in the future, I wonder how things will turn out? Like with Senga, I feel like he’d be a father who’d be totally lovestruck.
If it was a daughter, first of all, until she turns 20, I’ll keep saying, “Your curfew is 10 o’clock!”
Tamamori: I can imagine that. Also, wouldn’t surprisingly, Miyata be the same too?
Miyata: No~ I don’t think I’d be that type.
Tamamori: I wonder? If you have a daughter, you seem you would dote on her though.
Miyata: Right, if my kid was a daughter, first of all, until she turns 20, I’ll keep saying, “Your curfew is 10 o’clock!”
Nikaido: Annoying~(laughs). Who I think would seem to become a doting parent is Senga and...also Tama, I guess.
Miyata: I know! Tama loves animals too.
Nikaido: With Tama though, if his kid is a boy, I feel like he’d surely let the kid take care of himself.
Tamamori: What do you mean, take care of himself! No, no, I’d cherish him a bit more than that, as expected (laughs).
Nikaido: If his kid was a girl, it’d seem like he’d really care for her, yea? I have an image of him bringing her to places like work too.
Miyata: Really? I have an opposite image. If it’s a boy, he’d go surfing and such with him, and I think, really love him lots!
Tamamori: Aah, to do sports with everyone in the family is nice. I kind of long for that. I think too though, that Senga would seem to become a doting parent the most. Also, if Senga becomes a father, he’d seem to make his kids wear super brand clothes, yea?
Miyata and Nikaido: Aah~ it’d definitely be like that!
Senga: Hey! ...you’re right though (laughs). My mother did the same to me, and that’s part of the reason I became interested in fashion, so I want to do the same for my kids too. When I was young, there was a time where I just didn’t like being dressed up like a doll, but I grew up to a certain point, it became fun.
Miyata: When he was like a junior high school kid, Senga wore like belts with a lot of studs on them.
Nikaido: Also, he had a really big brand bag that everyone longed for at that time!
Tamamori: Then, he also wore a sparkling belt from the same brand as the bag.
Miyata: Despite how back then, it was like...lesson clothes and private clothes for me were like the same (laughs).
Nikaido: Short sleeves and shorts were common.
Tamamori: I also just wore like a 1000yen t-shirt and such and went to lessons (laughs). When I was in junior high school, I had no interest in being fashionable at all.
Senga: That’s because I was a junior high school student who just really loved fashion. As I thought, I want to have my kids wear fashionable clothes too.
Nikaido: I want to have my kids learn some sort of instrument.
Miyata: That’s nice! I want them to learn something too.
Nikaido: By the way, do you want to show your kids you standing on stage? I might not be very happy about it. I want to be a normal father for my kids.
Miyata: In my case, if I let them see me on stage, when I go home, I might get teased by my kids a lot (laughs). I probably won’t show them either.
Senga: Like they’d say, “Hey, do wotagei” (laughs)?
Somehow, it seems like my way of showing affection is too intense (laughs)
Tamamori: That’s sad (laughs). This is going to change the topic, but it seems like after this, we’re going to do a photoshoot with a cat. I like animals, so I’m really happy! I’m looking forward to it~
Nikaido: Speaking of that, all the members here have pets. Miyata’s family too, got a dog recently, right?
Miyata: Yea, a dachshund. My older sister got it. Compared to it being our dog, it feels more like, “my sister’s dog,” so it’s no touch for me. That’s why I haven’t mentioned getting a dog anywhere.
Tamamori: Right, right. He won’t talk about his dog at all. I don’t know the name of Miyata’s dog either. Normally, when you get a pet, you’d take photos and show it around, going, “This is the dog that came to my place the other day,” right? (facing Miyata) You’re a cold guy!
Senga: ...like me, I just found out now that Miyata has a dog (laughs).
Miyata: That’s because it’s my sister’s dog. Not to mention when I first met the dog, he suddenly bit my nose! It really hurt and I cried (laughs).
Tamamori: He didn’t bite you lightly, huh (laughs). Well, the dog saw your nose and probably thought it’s a nose that’s easy to bite (laughs). It’s a baby though, so of course it’d be playful.
Miyata: No, no, that was a completely serious bite! They say dogs would decide on those who are superior and inferior within the family, right? It seems like I’m definitely looked down on by the dog (laughs).
Senga: Tama, what pets do you have again?
Tamamori: Two dachshunds and two flying squirrels.
Nikaido: Your mama said though, when you play with the dogs, it’d become stressful for them.
Tamamori: It’s true. Somehow, it seems like my way of showing affection is too intense (laughs). I think it’s close to how Nika was kneading the baby’s head earlier (laughs).
Miyata: Then, as a result of Tama’s intense way of showing affection, the dogs ended up not feeling well...
Tamamori: Yea. The moment they were told, “It’s caused by stress,” by the doctor at the hospital, I was told that my face came up in the minds of everyone in the family (laughs). I wonder if my way of showing love is incompetent. I really love them though.
Nikaido: Well, how is it with the flying squirrels? What is the correct way of showing affection?
Tamamori: Not touching them. Flying squirrels don’t like it when you touch them. That’s why I just watch them play.
Nikaido: Is it fun to have them then!?
If a war starts between dogs and humans, I might be the dogs’ side
Tamamori: They’re interesting and super cute! I’d let them out of their cages and let them play around in my room too. The two of them would jump and fly around in the air.
Senga: Eh, do you have a photo of that?
Tamamori: Yea. More like, I tried taking a video once, but at that time, they didn’t move at all, so it was like a still image (laughs).
Nikaido: Do the flying squirrels come if you call their names?
Tamamori: Not at all. If I put their feed on my shoulder though, they’d stop on my shoulder and eat it. That’s su~per cute! It really makes me feel better.
Senga: He~h. I have a toy poodle back at my parents’ place. I......lo~~~ve dogs! I really, really lo~~ve them!
Miyata: O-oh. What is it, suddenly (laughs).
Senga: That’s why, if a war starts between dogs and humans, I might be the dogs’ side. I’m going to say this ahead of time here.
Nikaido: What if that was between cats and humans?
Senga: (almost overlapping) Humans!
Miyata: You’re obvious with that one (laughs). I knew that Senga likes dogs, but I didn’t think it was to that point. Well then, if that war between dogs and humans happen, we and you will separate into enemies and comrades.
Senga: Seriously, I hope that that day will never come. Which reminds me, Nikaido, you have a lot of pets at your place too.
Nikaido: My house is amazing! A labrador retriever, a pug, and a Maltese, and we also have a bird. Speaking of that, when Miyata came to my house to play in the past, he was really scared of the labrador (laughs).
Miyata: That’s because it was really huge! If I was to have my own pet, it won’t be flying squirrels like Tama’s, but I think pets for admiring would suit me. More like, we also have turtles at my house too. Turtles hibernate in this season, so it doesn’t take any effort. When they want food, they’d be quite cute too.
Tamamori: What are the names of the turtles again?
Miyata: .........“Kame”.
Tamamori: If I remember correctly, there are two of them, right?
Miyata: ......both of them are “Kame”.
Tamamori: Hey, give them a bit more love (laughs)!
Miyata: I do love them properly! Things like washing their tank, I did it all the time.
Nikaido: You’re speaking in past tense already (laughs).
Miyata: Actually, in the middle of washing the tank, my hand slipped and I got the turtles stuck in the drain. After that, we had a family meeting and my right to wash the turtles’ tank was taken away from me (laughs). I really do love my turtles though!!
Tamamori: Hahaha, it’s a joke. When you have a baby and animals on the set though, it really is lively. I’m really looking forward to the photoshoot with the cat after this!
Nikaido: I’m looking forward to it too! One day, if we each bring in our own pets and do a photoshoot together...that would seem really fun, wouldn’t it?
Tamamori and Senga: I want to do that!!
Miyata: That’s fine, but we’ll have a bunch of dogs around, turtles walking around slowly, flying squirrels flying in the air...it’d no doubt be livelier than it is today (laughs).
Hope people enjoyed this~
