to anyone out there who has been hurt....

i read something today in livejournal that sparked memories of my own. something tells me they probably would rather not receive a comment from me on the subject. i will however, post my response on my own journal. may it help this person, and anyone else out there who may read it and see themselves in my words.

life is not an exponential climb. you will never continually climb upwards. what goes up must come down. the overall line will go up, but it will go up with its hills and valleys. you will be hurt. you will feel knives turning in your heart. you will see the sunshine and not feel it; you will feel the darkness crushing you. you will feel lost, not knowing who you are. you will have those times when it feels like the best day of your life, and you will have those times where you want to crawl in a whole and die. never tell yourself you are not being you. regardless of other people seeing it, you will always be you. the hurt, the pain, the rejection, the happiness, the tears, the colors, the laughter, everything, everything that is a part of you and is a part of your every day is you. the good and the bad will combine to be you. you will learn from your mistakes and the mistakes of others. you will learn to be a better person because of all the heartache you have experienced yourself, because you will know what it feels like to truly hurt. yes, there may be something stopping you now, but it isnt keeping you from being you. you already are you. you just need to break free of your constraints. i dont believe that your issue is with others. it is with yourself. if you cannot believe in yourself, you cannot be true to yourself.

its funny really, how sometimes the hardest part of breaking out is leaving behind the comfort. you may hate being held down with every ounce of yourself, yet breaking through the constraints means leaving behind your cozy - though miserable - little niche. the darkness has something of a soothing comfort about it. when you leave, you will miss it. but the change that is not a change will be worth every ounce of strength and effort that you put into yourself to make that difference.

i realize that my words are filled with sayings and cliches, but the honesty and truth are my own.

believe in yourself
