The following will be scattered thoughts. Beware, spoilers be lurking here!

As dumb as the premise of this show is, it still became quiet addictive. I stick to my word of it still lacks the charm Duel Monsters has, but has it's highly lulzy and has classic moments. I could never get into GX because the cast was all children and at a school that teaches you how to duel like card games were life... Okay, so that's what ANY Yugioh series is, but the school thing was just dumb. And actually, that's what's in 5D's right now after the Dark Signer thing died. I skimmed through the duels because I don't really like the monster designs and the duels are boring.

I liked that 5D's took a darker side to the universe yet it managed to be cheesier. I really don't know how that works out. Probably because of the whole people die and a Death God offers them life in exchange for becoming a Dark Signer and wreaking havoc against the world and the good guys, Signers. Then there's the innocent bystanders of areas that get eaten as sacrifices to the Earth Bound Gods, and their bodies become zombies and lust after cards. Yeah, I know.

The dueling on the motorcycles still really serves no purpose but to "look cool". They just wanted to combine Duel Monsters card game with motorcycle racing, I guess. But really, they could have accomplished all they did if they dueled on their feet, but dueling whilst in motion is MORE HARDCORE!

What made me love DM so much was the characters. 5D's lacks interesting characters for the most part. I've always loved Yuugi, but not so much Atem/Yami Yuugi which is who Yusei is supposed to be in this universe. And he like... gives therapy sessions with every duel. DUEL YUSEI, HE WILL SET YOU STRAIGHT ON THE PATH OF LIFE! He says cornier lines than Yami Yuugi if that were even possible. But other than that, he's pretty straight-faced the whole time. Like the love child of Cloud Strife x Yami Yuugi.

And unexpectedly, my favorite character is the Kaiba reincarnate. He has a bigger ego than Kaiba, yeah, I didn't think it were possible either, but the thing is HE DEVELOPS! Such a concept! He loses to Yusei and humbles himself of sorts, "I lost, I'm not the King anymore!" Then he sticks around and helps the other Signers and just becomes... COOL. After Carly pep talks him into being his own self (which is really sweet and why I ship them so hardcore). Jack shows little emotion in his face, but says some pretty sweet and endearing things. He's still an awesome duelist, and flaunts his skills but isn't so "Screw the rules, I have money," about it.

Also unexpectedly, I don't really care for Crow who is like the Jounouchi character. I think it mostly has to do with his character design. He's funny, and truly the comic relief but not in the way Jou is. He came off as annoying most times. But amongst two serious business characters like Yusei and Jack, he is amazing. Obviously he becomes a Signer later because obvious plot twists are obvious in the way of Yugioh.

To complete the Team Satisfaction, we have Kiryu. I have mixed feelings about him. He's a cool character with interesting motives turned sour. He's a bit of a nutcase. Probably doesn't help that he doesn't stick around very long and we see mostly him as a Dark Signer. Fandom really likes him, but he's still just kinda... there in the background. I really hope with him being revived he'll come and be more apart of the story.

As with any yugioh series, the female cast lacks with strong characters. I don't know what it is, but I don't really care for Aki. Bad psychic girl gone good? idk, she's still pretty boring to me. But I ship her and Yusei, so =/

Ruka and Rua are the children cast and are pretty cool. Ruka's connection with the Duel Monsters spirit world is an interesting plot device.

USHIO! Ushio gets background character love. And the only connection to the Duel Monsters series we have ;;

Obv I love Carly for I ship her with Jack. And she's a crazy reporter.

Pretty much any episode with JackxCarly are my favorite episodes o.o And the Team Satisfaction origin episodes.

Now I just wait for episode 70 to be subbed, and now I can participate with fandom in episode discussions and not be so confused whilst spoiling myself along the way. I really hope the Dark Signers coming back to life and then to life is explained. I feel it was overly rushed.

I had a rather amusing dream. I was living in a house that was a cross between my Victorville and Beaumont home and Mamo came to visit me, along with someone else I'm not sure, other than they probably were a Seiyuu, too. And Mamo spoke like perfect English. And was flirting with me. And we went for a drive. Then Shaina showed up, and we hung out. It was all very odd.

I miss my Tammy ;o; I have the feeling she's going to wait to fix her laptop until she gets home in the UK. Which I believe is sometime next week.

Fortunately, the convention itself has been pretty slow going. But here at the office it's been a bit mad and I don't like it. Just the whole Darci not being considerate of how much this week strains me really pisses me off. I don't have time to do your job and mine, kthx. And I can't get a hold of Nate and Angie to ask them questions about these orders I've been sitting on cause they won't answer, but they say "call if you have questions!" Defeats the purpose when you decide not to answer it, doesn't it?

work, yugioh, dreams, miyano mamoru
