Going well!

May 08, 2010 08:20

For the most part, things have been going really well lately.

Work
We had our annual Research Workshop and Symposium. The speakers were fantastic, and everything went fairly smoothly, even though one of our speakers wasn't able to attend since she was subpoenaed to testify in court. I took the position as "chair" at the symposium, and got quite a few compliments, so that was nice.

Stephen
Last week he finally started getting some air under his feet when he jumped. He's a bit behind in some of his physical milestones, but we're not sweating it yet, since he was such a late walker (apparently due to his extreme flexibility?). We're just working away at things on the list, and now he's only maybe 3 months behind rather than 6 months behind, so he should catch up soon. He's really interested in colouring and writing. I took the kids to a baton and dance recital, and much to my surprise Alex was bored, but Stephen was completely engaged and clapped and cheered. I'm guessing he's going to be more artistic of the two of them?

Alexandra
She's growing in maturity by leaps and bounds. She's also continually surprising me with her physical abilities - I think it's time we move her to an actual Gymnastics club where she can do more than just attend recreational classes. We've also put her in soccer for the spring, to see how she likes it. First game was snowed out (it was terrible!), but we should start next week. Her speech is improving dramatically. My mother can really hear a difference. She still won't try words she doesn't think she can say, or she won't try them if she thinks I want her to say them, but at least it seems like we're making progress.

Creative Memories
I've been really doing a lot with my scrapbook stuff lately. I've come to the conclusion that if I don't schedule regular events for me to work on my stuff, I won't ever finish any of my projects. So I'm trying to do at least 2 times a week events from 6-midnight. I managed to convince a local restaurant to let me use their event room without charging me, as long as I had about 10 people who attended and ordered food. I haven't yet managed to have 10 attend yet, but I've had 5-9, and people are genuinely excited and enjoying it, so I'm hopeful that the event will continue to gain in popularity. Then I'll be able to stop stressing about attendance. I'd really like to be in a position where I don't care how many people show up. That would be ideal.

Other than that - things are going really well! I've just been extremely busy, but I do come on and read at least every other day, if not every day! I hope you're all doing well!
