My goodness... where does the time go?

I better do an update on Alex, otherwise I'll get behind again.

Just after Alex's 8 month birthday, I started really getting into the solids... and getting frustrated. She wouldn't take anything. She wasn't remotely interested in having mush put in her mouth. I started to despair that my baby was going to be permanently reliant on the boob. After doing some research and talking to some other mamas, I got this idea that maybe it wasn't the solids, as much as the lack of texture. Apparently babies who start solids a bit later have a tendency to prefer texture and things they can chew.

In frustration, I broke off a piece of chicken from my meal. Much to my surprise, she chewed it, swallowed it, and opened her mouth for more! Once I started giving her foods with mouthfeel, dinner times have become much more interesting and fun! She loves toast with a little bit of margarine, chicken, turkey, dill pickles, cheese (both process and cheddar), cheerios and sweet potatoe. She's still not a fan of banana, or the avocado, which is disappointing. I decided to try the "first foods" again, to see if I could get her to eat some veggies. Now that she's into this eating and experimentation, she's tolerating green beans, but peas are by far her favourite. She positively gobbles them.

She's not crawling yet, but she's pivoting all over the floor. She rolls everywhere. Today she rolled over to the plexiglass that I have up to seperate the cats, pushed it aside (it's huge), and then continued rolling out the room. I kinda sat there in shock.

She's also into opening the entertainment centre cupboard. She started doing this last week, open, close, open, close, open, close. Then a few days ago, she opened the door, then her eyes got wide as she realized there were things IN the cupboard. She proceeded to empty it, and of course she had to taste everything as it got emptied.

She's babbling quite a bit now. She is saying "dada" but it's not actually connected to anything yet; it's still just a few sylables. She's just so much fun; I'm enjoying her so much. Tomorrow is halloween, and I've got this lion's outfit that my friend lent us. The timing is good, because she has this adorable little "roar" that she's doing now.

That's all for now, must go!
