For the second time in the short two years I have been working for the state, the apartment complex down the street from my office has had a major fire.  The first time occurred the week before I started in June 2006.  It took out an entire building and had one death.  Luckily, there are no deaths this time but 70 people are without a home.  I "know" some of these people.  I pass them as they walk their kids to the bus in the morning.  I see their kids get redeposited at 3:30.  They wave as you drive by.

Due to the high crime area my office is located in (1 car stolen and 2 break-ins to my office building in the past 2 months), I am hoping to leave for safer office space soon.  But I would never wish anything like this on the families in this neighborhood.  Most are just folks trying to make it by and raise good kids.  I hope there is some kind of community outreach for the families affected cause my checkbook is out.
