Chapter 1

Jul 13, 2010 10:29

They sat around the TV in comfortable couches as they watched the unending commercial about the perfect school. Sitting next to her, her roommate exclaimed "O.M.G. they have even have a spa in that school!” the rest of the girls only laughed at that point. One said “I think its creepy how they keep all their students in a boarding house it’s like they students are robots.” Another laughed while reminding her “I believe we are in fact in a school dormitory as well right now.” While the other joined in with the laughter the friend tried to prove her point by exclaiming “Well ours isn’t like theirs! Like look we have no schedule and we are free to do whatever we want except cause public harm or smoke inside the building.” All agreed that yes their college dormitory even missing the spa was better than this controlling one in the TV.
Around two in the morning, after their movie ended all the girls split each going to their rooms with their roommate only to come out seconds later to wash their faces and brush their teeth for the night in the common bathroom. Soon again they split to sleep for the night and for some of them remember the homework they hadn’t yet completed that were due tomorrow.

This was the schedule for the girls’ dormitory in Westfeilds University since the start of their freshman year. Not that it was mandatory, just what everyone felt like doing now that parents weren’t around to watch their every move. Sometimes some girls went to frat parties too. But that lost its appeal to Giina around the time she realized if she really danced the way she liked there would always be a guy trying to freak with her and that just did not appeal to her.  Giina woke up cursing the bright daylight in her room while searching for her phone. Finally finding it she checked the time only to groan thinking “No, I missed my classes…again.” She looked over to where her roommates body should be as tired as hers but no there was nothing on the bed across the room from hers. Giina decided it was no use waking up when she had no more classes today anyways and decided to sleep on. Only to be woken a couple hours later by the said missing roommate asking if she wants to go to dinner. Ah, only then did Giina remember she had forgotten about eating all day and decided to follow her roommate to the dinning commons.

Everyone chatted away about what movie to watch for tonight and what shows were on or what basketball game, to Giina’s interest. As she was trying to put in an argument about watching the L.A. Lakers game over the Gilmore Girls reruns.  She was stopped by her ringing phone. She looked at the address and groaned, and repeated to her friends “Ah, sorry, the parents.” for what must the umpteenth time.

She walked away from the table while answering the phone. To be greeted with a “honey do not put that chicken in yet…ah, I said not yet…fine, whatever. Oh hi Giina. How was shool?”

Giina walked around questioning her mother’s sanity at trying to let her father cook. She answered with a simple “yes, it was fine.” Though Giina did truly wonder if they were fine, seeing as she had skipped most of her classes this term she didn’t really know her teachers or her classmates or barely even what each class was about. But it was still early in the term and Giina could catch if she wanted soo she didn’t worry and thought yes, it must be fine.

Her mother answered with “Well that’s good to hear but honey your last term grades were not what your father was expecting and he is  slightly upset, though he is too busy right now to be on the phone. What with that A- and that B! Your father thought he might have died and went to hell when he saw those grades.” Ah mother could talk forever…ah look the chocolate chips cookies are out on the counter! Must get them before their gone. thought Giina.

Her mother prattled on about how her grades should have improved and that their family line never had bad grades so she shouldn’t either. This statement got Giina upset everytime, because why keep comparing her with everyone.

“Oh your father wanted me to tell you that he has got you a transfer to a new school starting next week so you need to pack up soon too.”

Ginna stood reaching for a cookie with her phone in her hands as she shouted “WHAT?”
